Yes the older ones are worse. There was a TV doco about his and everyone went ape shit about it.

As has already been said, get him to attend road training asap.

Maybe then you will be able to open your mind to some of his inane ramble.

Some of it may be worth hearing.

As a veritable old fart myself, I can truthfully say that I believe there is no point in trying to make out that you are smarter than you are. I was away from bikes for near twenty years and coming back has been "interesting" to say the least. I am still trying to catch up with the technology...and may well never do so. So I don't try to push it beyond my own comfort zone. Not any more anyway. I don't need to prove anything to anyone. A couple of memorable near misses many years ago were enough to teach me that although I may be expendable, someone else's young kid is not...so I don't go there. Nor do I dish out advice unless I am asked. This is not to say that I don't have opinions on things - I do but I keep 'em to myself unless, as I said, I am asked. Born agains who think they are god are usually of short duration...

Ojai quoted me, but wasn't referring to me. YT was just setting the record straight as regards my old fart status (bless her). And how us old farts should be treated with respect. Capisce?

I guess thats what fathers/stepfathers do? any kber fathers know?
It's called the Alpha male syndrome. Instead of 'competing' (and letting him compete with you) can I suggest that you TACTFULLY talk to him about rider skills courses.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

    Theres a couple of things you need to know about old farts ;

They actually want you to have a better life than them, so they INTENTIONALLY lead you to believe that you are smarter than them. It's about your self esteem - you have to believe you are smarter than them - its part of his game plan. Ask him.

They talk too much sometimes. When you are getting sick of it, tell him "you're talking too much again" and give him a wink and he will can it for a bit.

Old farts have often had it pretty tough, so don't crunch them too hard ok? They have feelings just like you do.

"What Steve said pretty much summed it up."
"I did axactly as you said and it worked...!!"
    "Wow, Great advise there DB."

Think what's happening is the opposite DB, the step dad is talking himself up but can't ride for shit !

Just smile and Nod Dean ! It gets ya a long way in life (wish my boy would learn to do it) So what if you can outride him ? You know it, it's prolly very obvious to him as well !
But if you just smile and nod when he's talking himself up to his mates, all ya doing is showing a little respect for his pride and like Kahma it'll come back !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

+1 thank you for the advice, i will have to do the smile and nod technique i will try it (fingers crossed).
Im hearing about the lessons and what not for him, thats great, something like NASS wouldnt be good for him, best for him to get 1 on 1 tutoring in a carpark where he cant hit the nearest barrier or lampost or parked cars.
The video is hilarious but like you guys said i got to respect the old fart so i wont humliate him by uploading it, but boy would it get mega views on youtube!!!!.
