I got away without telling the missus…

I am of course referring to my recent bin a couple of weeks back.

    http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...ad.php?t=95894

If I were to tell the missus, she would be frantic with worry and try and make me get rid of my bike. IMO – this is an argument that is best avoided. So in order to save us both a great deal of stress and anxiety, I decided to keep it from her.

My bike is all fixed now and I have been parking it close to the garage wall so she wouldn’t notice the missing panel, which was being sprayed, and other missing bits and bobs.

It all looks like new again and my bruising has almost all gone. I really don’t see any point in confessing.

I disagree. I think hes onto something here.

Then when she says 'Billy from work came off his bike the other day.. I don't want you to get hurt', he can say :
"I come off all the time, its no big deal, I came off last week you didn't even notice!" and play it all down like that.

We all know riding has its dangers... Its just best to minimize the partners worrying.

Unless she joins KB, I suspect I will be quite safe.

You think she doesn't know that you are holding something back ... hmmmm ... you are not only sailing close to the wind .. but rather silly!

Nothing like the satisfaction of having a secret from the missus.

I thought the same thing but thought I would get caught out. Confessed about 3 days later and she was sweet. She did admit that had I told her straight away she would have handled it differently. I could then limp in her presence and milk it for all it was worth, which wasnt much at all

It's one of those rules just like the one how everything you buy for the bike costs $50

    Vance & Hines full system - $50
    Hot cams - $50
Over size piston kit - $50
    Aftermarket ignition - $50

That's a bit like parachuting with a hole in the main, thinking you'll be safe 'cause you got a reserve.

    But it's your dice to roll . . .

Ha, just do what I did - wait till the better half is away to do it. But I have to say, even though he was up in the States I fessed up straight away. He was really good when I insisted that all was ok, the kids would look after me, the bike was still ridable (at least I thought it was at the time...) I am very blessed to have such an understanding husband. I truly thought I was in for the "don't you think you should rethink riding" talk, but he was great.
    Perhaps just pick your moment???

Ditto. Been there done that with a new bike. Sometimes it's not necessary to tell someone everything and cause undue stress. A bit of fun squiralling away the insurance excess LOL.

Anyone who says they have never done this in way or another is a hypocrite.

Mate I'd never not tell the wife, cause when she did find out I'd be skinned alive anyhow! Now though I'm onto it, I bought her a bike and today she got her learners, so tomorrow we'll go for a short spin. Now if it happens , well it could have been her too.

Oh... Actually its not really like that at all.

Nothing to see here.. move along please!
