It will be my first time doing a race longer than 6 laps. Anything I need to take into account ie. different tyre pressures etc etc.......
Cheers

Hi Sharky
From my limited experience at Taupo:
If you going solo dont stop and pit unless you absolutely have too
Get heaps of fluids/protein into you
Get your self a serious pit crew
If it looks like rain get rain proof over cover
Spare gloves/helmet
Treat your visor with good antifog
Put a digital stopwatch on your dash
Last thing something i did before the 3hr was get my bike fully serviced.
NOT RACING ANYMORE SNIFF SNIFF
Hey mate - depends on length - you talking 20 laps or 3 hrs?? both would be a good idea to run slightly higher pressure - so tyres dont over heat/expand. they will take longer to heat up. but focus is on you - I did the 3 rh at taupo - it pissed down and we had race tech tyres! - it was SH*T!! but steady gets you home. only 3 bikes didnt have wets - the other 2 came last and 2nd to last - we came 9th ( out of 18 ) need to sit on 80 - 90 percent depending on your fitness.
If your doing pit stops then practice the day before - we could do a full refuel and rider change ( with motor off ) in 40sec. made up heaps of time.
if your taking your 400 - change all thge fluids before - brake, oil etc. and then check your vavle clearances make sure they are bigger than norm mate and watch the down changing!!
They say u aint a racer till youve done an ednurance event!
Thanks fulla's. But what's with all the pesimism about wet weather all about eh?

Exactly!! It's still over a week away. Somebody must have a very special crystal ball to see that far out. Perhaps I can borrow it before I buy my Lotto ticket this weekend
I assume you are running your F3 bike in the endurance race which for us is only 45 minutes, 35 - 40 odd laps. I don't plan on doing anything except filling my petrol tank to the top
Maybe lay off the beer and/or rum on Saturday night and![]()
My suggestion if you are doing the F3 race. DO find out the range of your tank at race pace. That way you can work out if yo will need a fuel stop.
Do fit new tyres but run normal race pressures They will last the whole race no worries.
Do change oil, front pads and brake fluid.
Do hydrate yourself plenty
Endurance races are about consistant laps at pace.
To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?
Yep doing Pre '89 first up which is 1/2hr. I'm expecting to get through that with out needing to stop and will be able to guage after that if I'll get through the 45min F3 race on one tank.
Looking forward to it.
