I've always followed the manufacturers recomended running in procedure, never had oil issues or anything else for that matter. It doesn't really matter what the 'experts' think,it doesn't take long to run it in as recomended and at least there's no warranty issues.
As for warming up,a few years back Husky (huskyvarna or whatever) did some tests and discovered that the bike will last twice as long if it's warmed up thoroughly before you ride....

Bugger all that, hence the reason I test ride a second hand bike and then decide to buy!!

well My tupenths worth. Im dealing with a rebuilt engine not a factory fresh engine.
Mine was run up on the dyno for 15 minutes at a variety of rpm.It then got a squirt to redline. Rejetted it was then run up to 3/4 throttle then redline again for DYNO check.
I then dumped the oil (aprox 50km of running)
Since then Ive done 160km is at pukie easing it up to 3/4 or 7/8 throttle
with a couple of decent bursts up to full throttle.
Ive dumped the oil again and I expect to race the bike again on sunday.
Different rules for race motors of course but thats what I'm doing.
To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?
