Will a Givi A770 fit a Honda Hornet?

    Hi there,

just bought, on the net a givi A770 wind screen. Did chat to a bloke from the store, on the phone before, on whther it would fit a Honda Hornet 250 and he thought that it would.

My concern is that I just read on another website that it doesn't fit a 900 Hornet. Now call me a newbie but isn't everything about a 900 the same as a 250 apart from brakes, engine and all that, but the main thing is that the frame is the same?

My question is, will a givi A770 givi screen fit my hornet 250?

    Cheers

The A770 is a "universal" screen that is designed to fit a range of naked bikes. Which ones it fits and doesn't fit will be most likely determined by the dimensions of the headlight and what fittings and fixtures come with the kit.

Also it mounts to the headlight and bars, not to the bike's frame.

    Cheers fo rthe feedback.

Yup, newbie getting used to the terminology. Headlight and bars is right.

Haven't received it yet but from chatting to a bike shop it looks like I may need a specific installemnt kit for the hornet as well. I'll let you know (when I get it) if anyone is interested.

Some of the Givi screens, such as the A750 and A755, are only attached to the headlight bracket. This means it's pretty universal for all bikes fitted with a round headlight.

I had the 755 on my old GS500, and it worked a treat. I'm pretty sure I've seen some of the same attached to a couple of 900s, so have a look at the Givi website.

    Ok,

managed to fit it this weekend.

Answer is yes but you need new bolts.

This givi screen attaches by using the bolts that hold the headlight in place. The frame of the screen (attached to the back of the screen) slots in between the headlight and the headlight mounting. In essence this increases the bolt length needed, to secure the headlight. The original bolts were exactly the right length before the screen was added.

So of course after the screen was added the bolts were then too short. Bought new bolts and all is good.

Took it out for a test ride yesterday and the new screen works well. More helmet noise though as more air is being forced upwards. Way less, near to none, wind buffeting on body but it was quite calm weather. Big thumbs up so far.

Will post pics of the before and after at some point.

Only unknown at this point is whether I've buggered up my headlight positioning, from unscrewing it and then not being able to see the alignment markers due to the screen, fairing, obscuring it. Will find out at next wof (few weeks time).

Hopefully this will be helpfull to someone it the future.

    Cheers
