Two motorcyclists down in Welly (17 April 2009)

Hi All,
In the space of about ten minutes two fellow rides down.
This is as I'm eating breakfast listening to the police chatter.
One rider down as he was heading from the capital into the Hutt.
Sounds like he is ok. he came down on the section just under the fly over to Petone( where the old ten pin bowling use to be). Sounds like last night they layed some new road seal. Left the road works with no signs out about loose road chips etc. ( from the police chatter cagers were have some trouble with this section too)

Hence anyone coming out of the capital towards the Hutt be very careful.

Second rider vs a car, came down head towards the Hutt from Wainuiomata. ( on the Wainuiomata side ) Condition unknown but sounded not good.
Turns out from the plates he was riding a stolen trailer. I hope this rider gets better soon so my ACC does not help this scum bag out too much.
Too all fellow scum bags who knowingly ride a stolen ride, I wish you the same grief.

Yeah, maybe but I've given out No personal info. The first accident seems worth it. About telling riders to be very careful about that section of road.

Road works signs in NZ seem to be very hit or miss. Wrong signage / no signs. Seems that they put out whatever sign they have on the truck at the end of the day.

Not in my opinion. If the fuzz broadcasts coms on the airwaves then its public. If they want to encrypt, then they should do so.

The same goes for email - if its emailed cleartext then its cleartext.

Are your conversations on your portable home phone "public"? What about your cell phone? All of these radio communications can be - and are - routinely intercepted by sticky-beakers using radio scanning receivers. Surprisingly few people realise that...

The law is quite clear on the matter. Listening to private conversations transmitted via radio signals is not illegal. Acting on the information received is very much illegal - and that includes re-broadcasting the information to other persons.

I wish parliament would pass a law outlawing the cops transitioning to digital. Listening to them on scanners provided hours and hours of amusement in my younger days, and it'll be a shame when people cant do that anymore.

Also as for the legality of using information pulled from the airwaves, if that's illegal then the law is an ass.
