1998 SUZUKI TU250x mods

Just wanted to see if anyone knew off the top of their head what size pod filter i would need for the tu250x.

also, if i change to a pod filter, will i have to oil it up like the stock air filters? i was planning on going with a K&N pod air filter. thanks! let me know!

The K&N pod filters are the paper sort you blow out with compressed air. You can get foam pod filters too though. I don't think pod filters are well-known for their filtration qualities.

Remember they're a reclothed GN250, which are hella common here in NZ, so it's worth keeping that in mind when asking about it. Not that you see a hell of a lot of heavily modded GN250s running about.

Performance wise it'll run much better with the standard airbox and filter. Pod filter will make it much leaner... so re-jet, fiddling forever until you get it running close to stock... and it'll still have a huge hole in the midrange. But there'll be heaps of intake noise.

No they are a cotton gauze which needs to be cleaned and oiled with the appropriate K&N oil.

In what way exactly? It's almost guaranteed that it's a lot better at filtering dirt than an aftermarket pod filter. What did you hear about stock filters?

My apologies -- they look a lot like those folded paper ones and I saw a guy do that with a car replacement K&N once -- I see now after a search lots of people warning against doing just that! Not a good idea to blow holes in your intake filter
