Heavens Bakery in Taradale won the Best Pie comps for years, not sure about this year tho. Best pies I ever tasted were from a bakery in Petone called Yolandas. Was a few years ago now - are they still there?

Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
The silverdale bakery does good pies, the chicken curry ones are particularly good.
The New Windsor bakery (in the shops near the Maioro st and Windsor rd intersection) does pretty good pies and other stuff too and are pretty cheap.
I was surprised how good the BP pies were when I tried one. Much better than Big Ben or Irvines etc. Bit more expensive though too.
Anyone know a good place near AUT to get pies? The student cafeteria there only has Irvines pies (which are ok, depending on how long they've been cooked and whether you're unlucky enough to find a lump of fatty chewy crap in them [the steak ones, anyway]).
I remember having one of those butter chicken pies at bp in silverdale last time I was there and it was awesome.
Always appreciate a pie conniseur, especially at 3am after a few bevvies.
There's also a member who was managing the Porirua Georgie Pie when it opened.Originally Posted by duckman
Geeez, I forgot about Mum's B&E pies. My sister used to make duplicate 'Mum's B&E pies' for the boys to scoff at the racing or drags. They must have been good as I recall missing out most times.Originally Posted by loosebruce

Sorry about making angry, but if you ever get the time to try the pies I speak of (and I've tried plenty, inc BP and Nelsons) you will know why they are so much better. However I'm on night shift and all this talking about pies has got me down to BP for a couple of turdie pies...Originally Posted by WINJA

The best pie is the one you can get your teeth into when you are hungry.

I am very surprised that no one has claimed a 'hair pie' to be their favourite.......![]()

Haven't read the 3 or 4 pages of pie talk, but has anyone mentioned Trisha's Pies, in Wellington? Rather tasty pies and confectionary! (and I should know, was a baker there for 2 years)
*EDIT* NOT Island Bay Trisha's Pies, Kilbirnie and Kent Terrace. Island Bay branch is not affiliated with the actual Trisha's Pies name
