    Steve Hislop

    Holy crap...

just reading about this in the latest Superbike mag:

    2002 BSB meeting at Donnington

"It felt like a smooth and rapid lap but not really any faster than the other good laps I'd done," said Hislop afterwards. But it was. His lap time of 1:31.457 sent shockwaves through the racing world as Hislop had just propelled his 65,000 pound sterling kitted BSB Ducati quicker around Donnington Park than the greatest GP rider could on machinery that was 20kg lighter, 50bhp more powerful and about a million pounds more expensive. And this was no fluke. Hislop stuck in another lap under Rossi's lap record, just to prove a point. Legend.
A second and a half quicker than anyone else at the meeting in qualifying. He did this at 40 years old after breaking his neck two years earlier.

    What a f'k'n psycho!!

Must have been incredible to watch. Time to go change my 5 favourite racers on Facebook!!!

Read his autobiography a while back which as finished after his death. Very interesting man and sooo naturally talented. His writings on the TT should be compulsory reading for racers!!

Dunno, but I'm having second thoughts about getting a lift with Sloan Frost.
