    The National Geographic Board are...

A pointless bunch of money sucking Government bureacrats, funded by taxpayers, with no actual requriement to report their activities to anyone in Government. They've already changed Swamp Rd to Matarawa Rd. No consultation with the locals ether.

So I took the mickey. I encourage you to do the same.

    You're not the only one.
It is preferential to refrain from the utilisation of grandiose verbiage in the circumstance that your intellectualisation can be expressed using comparatively simplistic lexicological entities. (...such as the word fuck.)

Apparently someone wants to put a H in Wairarapa. Now if you sound it out Whairarapa sounds totally different to how it sounds without the H. Someones just jumping on the Wanganui bandwagon. Its just stupid.

Mate, that's gold. How about the guy who wants 'Steve and Dave' for names of the islands. Brilliant. With so many sensible people in NZ how come all the fuckwits get the high-paying, slack-arse, cushy jobs?

    My reply missed the cut

"Tovypoenammu & Aeheinomouwe look Welsh. I vote we stay with North and South (but how about we spell them both without an 'H' this time round" :slap:

No wait, they found it. Must have fallen under the desk

Nothing like a juicy bit of historical revisionism, and the implication that the Maori tribes of pre-1840 had a common name for the islands that make up this country (or indeed anything at all in common other than a desire to destroy one another, as exemplified by all good, savage, stone-age cultures).

Of course, pointing out such facts is racist, so I immediately retract this statement to avoid being branded a redneck. All hail the mighty Maori, the once and future lords of this land.
This is the only one with any sense...
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

There's no "y" in the Maori alphabet.

I'm sure there's a map on the wall in the UoA's history department which has the North Island named New Ulster (I think it was the north, it's been a while).

    Edit: http://www.teara.govt.nz/1966/P/Prov...ndNewUlster/en Here we go.

Fill in Cook Strait and call them New Zealand.

Not like it's an original naming convention either: Northern Ireland, Southern Ireland, North and South Korea, Carolina, Dakota and i'm sure there's a shitload more... My vote is for Hot 'n' Bubbly and Cold 'n' Peaky, but i've only been here 2 and a half years... Wish they'd just shut the Whuck up and spend their time more constructively
    I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!
