    Tahora Ho!

Not to be missed, Taranaki hospitality at it's best. From Rangiora too the Railway Hotel Otaki via the 2.20pm sailing. Sprint just hummed up the Coast. Joined a mob waiting to board ferry at Picton, West Coast Touring Club off on a journey of discovery around the North Island, including the Rural Riders Rally at Tahora. Interesting crossing with great folk!
Otaki too Tahora via Waiouru. Came across a fearfull sight at the top of one of those lengthy passing lanes just North of Taihape. Wreckage everywhere and bodies being extracted from vehicles (one dead according to the Press). On through Ohakune and up to Taumaranui for lunch. Can highly recommend the last Diner heading East on the main drag. Great souvlaki. The Forgotten World Highway, freshly laden with a deep carpet of course chip for several miles, made for interesting navigation!
The Rally, just great! Well organised by Kerry, Blaino and Gypsy with a lot of help from good friends. A music lovers paradise. Quick trip to Stratford to 'cash up'.
Back to Otaki on the Sunday via the SH 4 to W(h)anganui. Center stand feet by this time almost non-existant! Over on the the 10.10 AM sailing on Monday and along with a bunch of Mates headed for home.
Going to happen again next Year? You bet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi Shafty

may have got that Diner spot wrong. It is on the left when heading towards the river. Huge place run by Lebonese folk, specialise in Middle East type tucker, on a corner opposite a bit of reserve land which backs onto the railway line.
Yep, plenty of photos, when I figure out how to post them will do so.

    Regards

    Lovecuba
