Suzuki class these as an introduction motorcycle(nothing about it being a competition motorcycle), surely this is what buckets are to road racing?
They're run in some of the Junior Motocross classes in NZ. And that it what the bike was designed for - introduction to off-road sport/competition riding. But it is a moot point really, as it is the SAME engine in the DR, DF, GN, GS, GZ non-competition bikes. So, it isn't a competition derived engine as far as I can see, but it is used in a bike designed for competition!

    Cheers,

You didn't ask that. You asked what class they fit, so I answered that.

It's not a farm bike either.

What do you mean "surely this is what buckets are to road racing". If you mean Buckets are an introduction to Road Racing you would be in the enlightened minority.

There are many who view Buckets as a distraction, or a joke, or something not needed, and should therefore be ignored - MNZ is one organisation with this attitude.
    < /rant >
Buckets are a great social class and the further it's kept from competition type engines the better IMHO.

TZR50 & RG50's are more competition based engines than a DRZ will ever be. Agree with everything else.

RG50's were sold as a road bike. When it comes to off-road bikes that could be road registered I think you'll be getting into a grey area. This sort of thing always depends on if you want to go with the spirit of the class or push the boundaries...

Could I recommend you read "How to win friends" before deciding?

    hahaha good read?

when your 6'5 riding/racing a bucket you tend not to worry about much other than keeping it upright and feet outa the way.

No drama Skunk, 925 has been hanging around bucket racing for quite some time, had some great races with his bro & Father many years back.

I'd say a DRZ125 is as legal as a Longchin.
