Cool! There is a kaleidoscope manufacturer near Kerikeri on the waipapa road and they have amazing scopes on display outside. One of which you have to crawl under to get inside where you become part of it somehow. Worth a visit if you are going up SH10. Also they have kitset ones, great presents.

Long story this so will tell the short version. I spent nearly three years of my childhood in hospital and most of that was in a cage so that I could not sit up.
I use to spend hours looking through a glass kalidoscope. Everytime you turned the scope a new pattern would emerge. I had about three or four of them unfortuntley most of my 'toys' were tossed out when my father died and I moved house. Even to this day I can shut my eyes and imagine the many desighns. That link just bought it all back.

now that is a fun site! thanks for the link!!
When I was a nipper I had one of those old cardboard tube types, even that was amazing back then. However, when my kids were little I bought them a really cool glass one from some Amway knob. It was the coolest wee toy....they still remember it.
The simple things are often the best. (Like me..)
