    Wellington Newbie on SV (Blaise)

Hey...small introduction. Have just picked up a SV1000 yesterday and looking to pick up tips and tricks on these forums. May even get out for a ride or two.

Have just come off a overheating 1986 NV400 with no suspension so really looking forward to getting some road and track time. Did the ambo run on sat on the NV and decided the retro machine has got to go.

Always had either dirt bikes or road bikes since I was young (not that I proclaim to be a better than average rider!) Do a little MX and trail rides when time allows.

Hoping the 1000 isnt too much for me. The 450 mx bike was the most powerful I had ridden. hahaha. Will try to take it slow for a week or two. Hard not giving it a tickle up on the motorway tonight. Man...just typing this makes me want to go out for a ride now.

I hope I see some of you out there.

    Cheers

Thanks all. Had to just look at the bike sitting in the garage as I left for work this morn. Took the car option this morning as appointment this arvo. Helmets are no good for the hair-do eh? haha.

Have a look in 'meetings and events" section under your area (AK?) also there is a 250 club you can check out.

Welcome to the site and to the SV family.

The SV is a great bike when it comes to tinkering and mods.

    Checkout the following:
http://forums.sv650.org (yeah - the sv650 but they have some sv1000 info too)
http://www.sv-portal.com/ - sv1000 site (looks spookily familiar eh?)
    http://www.svdownunder.com/index.php

I don't know if the SV1000 has a similar fuel injection setup with the throttle position sensor like the 650 - but if so, and you find the throttle a snatchy at low revs, do the TPS sensor adjustment. Documented here for the 650

    Have fun!

    Crikey, another Wellington SV rider!

Check out the sites that DaveB has listed, but you probably won't need to get much done other than set youe suspension up initially.

    Hiya & welcome to KB!!

That's a whooooooole lotta machine you have in your hands now.. & very different to those that you have ridden!! so I strongly recommend you give Andrew & Lynne a call & book yourself in for some rider training

    www.roadsafe.co.nz

It will be the best investment you can make for motorcycling passion!!!!

Good gear might save your skin & bones.. but good rider training might save your life!!!!!!
