Motards should continue to stay in Group 1. Or else who am I going to give the learn to.

Is 1:50 a reasonable time?
On topic tho it's a hard one. A roughly 80-100km/h speed difference on the straights does seem rather risky to me.
But then it'll be largely the same in G2.
G3 is probably the safest on the straights due to the lower exit speeds on T11 but it must be hell for motards in the corners. There's a lot of red mist in G3 and a general lack of appreciation for where the other bike will go which wouldn't help.
It would take Choppa just over 5 laps to catch ya !
Or put another way 115% of his time around there the other week is 149.5 if my maths without a calculator is right, so knock a second off that and you'd make the cut !
Edit: hang on i might be puttin ya crook there, buggered if i know how to work out 115% of that lol ummm 1.30 is 90 seconds x 115% is 103 seconds which is 1.43 i think !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"
Bowls can wait !
I get 1:43 for 115% of a 1:30 lap but still..
I'd say I must be doing 1:47ish on a good clear lap by now. If only I was allowed to time my laps eh. Still that's probably good enough for Clubmans right?
I still don't get my knee down though
Hmmm maybe I should get me a cheap old F3 400 and give this racing malarky a go. I'm sure I'd go faster if I wasn't worried about binning my daily ride.
Brett...............firstly you have way too much time to play with
I'm with Chop, forcing someone into a group because of their bike ain't right. i've not seen any dodgey moves by motards fo ages at a trackday.
People should have the choice where they feel comfortable, everyones normally told to hold a line down the straights to be safe.
To be honest mate, I've been on the receiving end of a fair few motard riders not liking being passed so then slam the door under brakes..............but the shear joy of going around em takes the red mist away hahaaa.
They are trackdays after all............no prizes for passing anyone aye.
Lol didn't edit that fast enough yeah and he'd have ya in 5 laps lol there aint 100 seconds in a min !! Doh !!!
If your punting round at a 1.47 mate you would have come third or forth in our last clubmans race !
Next time ya see me at the track have a ganda at my sliders ! Not a mark on em ! Imagine the corner speed ya gonna pick up when ya get the body position in the right place to get ya knee down !

Im doing 1.48s on the Motard, just for your interest
Ive run out of fucks to give
Good thread Quasi...
For not so quick sports bike riders (like me) Motards can be bit of a menace cutting people up (happened to me a few times) or being difficult to pass on bends... but I think much of that can be avoided with a bit of mutual courtesy and space. Not all motard riders are experts either and perhaps should not be in group 1 with the very fastest bikes and riders.
The speed differential on the straight is definately a serious hazard. 100kph difference at those speeds is a lot. It could be managed by rules that every one is aware of laid down by the organiser. For instance Motards to use the left half of the straight only, fast sports bikes on the right.... something like that.
Apart from that a little courtesy, patience and good riding all round goes a long way towards ensuring all riders get a good day.
Wow ok that gives me some perspective. I thought low 40's was a good time for a stock 600 but that's probably wrong. Certainly explains why only 1 or two people have passed me at the last two days (G3 at MotoTT and fast-road group at the Honda day). I'm looking forward to having my arse handed to me in G2 in May tho. Ya learn way more following someone quick.
Would love to be timing my laps so I knew for sure and could see the improvement but I understand the reasons the insurance companies don't want timing at trackdays.
Wow that's mega quick when you think about your horsepower. Your corner speed must be insane to make up for the time you must be losing on the straights. Dude you so shouldn't sell that bike.
Hahaa thats funny................
No probs when a better rider can round ya up............all credit to 'em, just gotta keep it in perspective at a trackday.
Was that you chasin on the sportbike in the 1st vid mate? Who was in front? And has no one shown ya how to downshift on a real bike?![]()
