I got a RF seat for a good price ($80?) and an EMCO filter cheap too.

I thought so - but it came up in conversation with some of the guys at the lunchtime get together at the pub... I couldn't recall details there and then, and promised to post them up here for reference and in case it's useful to others.

You also get people (dunno 'bout in NZ) who buy up a whole shopload of "new old stock" from the shops on tender or whatever, then sell it piecemeal like this.

I've two friends in the US who make a living selling bike parts on eBay, and one of them was telling me about another guy that does this BIG time, and buys up whole motorcycle shops (especially those in financial trouble) and sells the stock on eBay. He's got so big now that he doesn't do much more than look for stock to buy, then employes others do do all the cataloging, listing, etc.

I got a good deal on a used ventura pack rack for my bike through Colemans on Trademe. Was pretty trusting, he actually sent the goods out before I had paid for them!

Not till just now which surprises me, I've been dealing with the guy for years (literally) and he's a good guy. I wonder if it's a communal address (either way it's something to look out for - a good point..!)

The feedback system on TradeMe is such a big crock! If you post honest feedback, instead of playing the "Excellent Trader! AAAAAA+++++++++" game, you get nasty stuff back.
I bought my wife some bike gear, and the trader was hopeless: didn't answer questions, took ages to respond, and a week after the money was in their account they finally noticed, and asked for my address, which I'd supplied when I won the auction. The worst thing was they charged something like $25 or $30 postage on something with a $10 courier label.
So, I said that although the goods were fine, they as traders were slow and overcharged on the postage, and they got really grumpy. Said, "Well you can have your money back if you're not happy with the goods", which wasn't the issue. It's feedback on them as a trader, not on whether the goods were any good / worth it.
My son also got flamed because someone sold him a crusty old piece of computer equipment, advertised with a photo of a brand-new item, and no note to say so. When he pointed this out, he was basically blackmailed into posting something positive instead.

I read it...but what I'm trying to say is...they are a company supplying a service for motorbikes. Not a 5 year olds attitude.
I have to deal with cuntsomers at work sometimes, I never give them attitude back.

Hmmmm....not very nice. I don't think it was that bad when I bought my rack about 3 months ago? But then again he never did place any feedback on me or respond to my emails.

Yeah well, I say spell it out as it is and if they're a prat escalate it to the Trademe bods and email the prat a virus...

Yeah, I delt with this bike shop for YEARS and they fucked me around on one thing, for a hell of a long time(18 months). I was gutted that they did it, but they lost a good customer that spent alot of money with them. Too bad for them I say. But I'm never going to bad mouth them.

I think there's a difference between generalised slagging off because you're pssssssed off, and being honest to others if they ask about a particular bike shop.
Bad mouthing a shop won't fix past wrongs, but telling the truth could save someone getting a similar crap experience.
