Too many hours on the playstation? I wouldn't know, but ppl certainly seem to be much less empathetic these days!
I blame it on the cult of individualism that we've succumbed to over the years. Y'know, "it's all about me, screw anyone else". If you look at the context of the last 10,000 years or so, this is a very weird and unusual attitude.

What we need is less living in rows of (not so) little isolated boxes and more real functioning communities. Teach people to care for others because they value who they are, not because there's something in it for them. (And less SuperCity, more village...)

Its distance - because its a long way away people dont give a shit.

If it happened in the UK with 'our' Queen it would be different - people would care more.

If it happened in Australia - it would be getting a lot more press over here.

If it happened in Auckland - it would be all over the papers.

If it happened at the school your kids attended you would be horrified.

If it happened to your kid - you would be distraught.

Sad that it has to get so close to home for some people for them to be upset - actually watching REAL PERPLE being killed and dying. Sad to see that people have become so desensitized.

The person who was the tough guy laughing at it - well thats just pathetic and you should be pitied.

I'm pretty sure I'd still see the amusing side either way actually.

People aren't more desensitised, I'd say we are far less capable of dealing with a violent attack and the associated blood and death then our ancestors who not very long ago had to contend with such events more then a few times during their lifetimes.

Or maybe not, The people in the video seemed to be taking care of business.

The fact is we now get fed horrible events on a worldwide scale, and if anyone thinks they are feeling all that hurt then they are fooling themselves.

5 dead and 12 injured according to stuff...

However, this part is particularly disgusting:

Police said they believed the man, whose name was not disclosed, acted alone. He is being charged with attempted assault on the royal family. No explosives were found in the vehicle.
Who the fuck gives a flying shit about an attempted assault on the royal family considering there's a confirmed "succeful" quintiple vehicular homicide?
Seems someone needs a bloody reality check and then straighten out their priorities.
It is preferential to refrain from the utilisation of grandiose verbiage in the circumstance that your intellectualisation can be expressed using comparatively simplistic lexicological entities. (...such as the word fuck.)

Because the five dead were mere peasants compared to the rulers of an entire nation?

Doesn't matter where in the world this is happening - its still pretty sick. At lease the arsehole is caught and he even admitted it.

If you're gonna bag this situation where people die at the hands of others - you're a sick bastard!
