    All sorted now

Though I feel there is still a tiny bit of top-end left - the valves may not be quite opening fully. I will have to track down an actuator to fix the valves properly.

    RG150 Powervalve blanks

sorry im new to the whole forum thing and dont knwo how to start a new post so will just try to reply to this one lol. I recently took the powervalves out of my RG150 to find that one of them was completely stuffed. aparently a new set is ridiculously expensive! so i thought i would just put some powervalve blanks in...does anyone know where i can get some PV blanks from?? cheers

    They're not ridiculously expensive.

Time to revive this thread, rather than start a new one on the same subject.

Im trying to get the pv's sorted so that they work properly, and have borrowed a mates actuator to compare against my own. At the moment the only check I can do is with the wire on the battery (the bike is lacking an engine at the moment). I checked both actuators and they both move the same amount on that test, however I am not sure if this will show me whether or not one is faulty. I have also checked the resistance on them as per the service manual, both are within the limits on the triangle connector, but Im not sure about the reading on the rectangle connector as it keeps jumping all over the place (on both actuators) and doesn't match anything in the manual.

Does anyone know much about these actuators? From what I understand when they break they just dont work at all rather than half work...

So does this mean that you will be racing this weekend or not?

I will be at this stage - only got the top end to put on then its ready to go back in the bike. Just waiting on a couple of bits (should be here tomorrow) then I can get it done. So hopefully tomorrow night I'll either be jumping for joy or crying.

Just a little advice from personal experience with the lil RG--take this chance to clean the exhaust system out. you will be blown away sat the amount of crap that comes out.

There is nothing wrong with taking them out AJ, in terms of following the rules, but the bike wont run very well with them out! Also nothing wrong with pinning them open, or putting blanks in, it's not making any gain to the motor what so ever, in fact just losing a bit of the low end power (That you shouldn't be using on the track)

Jase, It's important to get the powervalves set right. I have always ignored the little lines on the arm and barrel as the valves wear out, and even though the lines are aligned, the valves in the cylinder are in the wrong place.

You need the barrel to set them obviously, I have found the best way is to earth the test wire (with the whole assembly together) then adjust the cable adjusters so that when the valves are open they are perfectly flush with the top of the exhaust port, which makes the least amount of disturbance to your exhaust gases and port timing.

Right, so when the actuator is opened by method of grounding the wire, that is its fully open position? It doesnt turn any further than that in normal operation? Cheers for your help so far.
