2009 Formula Xtreme Tri-State Trophy Series
Non Eastern State Seaboard Travel Assistance Policy
I have been asked to clarify for privateer competitors the ‘2009 Non Eastern State Seaboard Travel Assistance Policy’ that I announced late last year for the Formula Xtreme TT series. This is for competitors who commit to do the whole series and don’t live in one of the three States the series will go to in 2009.
As stated last year if you are a privateer and live, work and hold a competition licence in your home State of either Tasmania, South Australia, Western Australia and or the Northern Territory then you are eligible to receive free entry to the FX-TT series this year. If you come from either WA or the NT then you will also get a free garage spot.
The only fixed costs you will need to contribute to is the Timing Transmitter hire fee ($15), the Permit and Insurance (depends on the number of entries per round but on average could cost about $28) and you will need to pay for your own Carbon off setting costs for travelling to and from the event plus for your practice, qualifying and racing.
The carbon off setting fee is not as much as one would expect, an average four (4) litre vehicle travelling from Adelaide to Winton would travel on average 1,850 km there and back, plus some driving while you are at the track. This works out at approximately $16 to off set your travel carbon production which would produce about .5 of a ton of carbon. Add to that your carbon out put from on track activities and that adds approximately another $2.00 + per round.
So all up if you combine your carbon off settings costs for travel and on track activities and the other charges of timing and permit fees and insurance etc for the two day event it would cost roughly $61.00.
This compared to the normal two day entry fee of $349.00 is a saving of approximately $288.00.
If you are travelling from WA there and back to Winton in a 4 litre vehicle then your carbon off setting fee would be approximately $62, the free garaging would normally easily off sets this extra carbon cost.
We would also ask you to ensure that any members of your team that fly to the track instead of driving with you tick the box for carbon off setting when they pay their ticket price.
If you and a mate are travelling with your bikes in the same vehicle then also please let us know as your carbon cost would be lower.
AUSCO will add as a matter of course another 10% to your carbon off setting fee that you pay to ensure we get it as right as possible in being responsible corporate citizens. As previously announced as far as we are aware the Formula Xtreme series this year are the first carbon friendly motorcycle race series in Australia and possibly the world.
For your average privateer a saving like this is of far greater value then the possibility of maybe winning some prize money occasionally. This saving is something that any competitor in one of the above named States or the Northern Territory can bank on if they enter the 2009 Formula Xtreme TT Series, if you add that saving to the great TV coverage every class at both the first and the second rounds of the FX-TT so far announced will get, then you have some great reasons for competing in Australia’s other high profile road racing series in 2009.
