Throttle lock

Does anyone use one of those throttle lock thingies that allow you to rest your right hand while riding. The ScottOiler web page lists one (http://www.scottoiler.co.uk/newproducts.asp) and I saw one at the March Hare (but the owner was not with the bike).

They look like a good idea but could get in the way and be dangerous. Does anyone have any experience and how do they work (ie do you have to lean on them)?

Not sure how they wrk and wot not...but they are a big seller in the states with all the stunt boys, they use em for no hander wheelies, standing on the tank and all that sort of stuff, dam good idea. let me know if ya get one and how it goes.

They're a short plastic fitting with a loop at one end. The loop is a friction fit on the throttle grip and allows you to hold the throttle open with your wrist and relax your grip. They can be twisted out of the way for playtime.

One brand is called "Throttle Boss"
I think I remember seeing some for sale in the Motormart mailer for around $50 (could be some where else though I saw it)
Been looking at getting one also though I have developed a way to hold the throttle open with the wrist while streaching the fingers. My throttle has a light movement and does not take much to hold it open where I want it with the wrist.

Used to use a throttle boss all the time. Never found them to be that much of a problem when the fun starts..... once you get used to them that is.

I used a similar device for my South Island trip. Its called a Throttle Rocker and I ordered it on the net from the States at a cost of USD$10. At todays exchange rate that about NZ $14.00. Its plastic , fits on the throttle , good to rest wrist on when you get used to it.

I've got a throttle boss. Very useful for long journeys, but I find it gets in the way a bit when things get a bit twisty.

I have ordered a Throttle Boss ($US12), a Cramp Buster ($8) and cargo net ($4) from http://www.lockitt.com/AccessoriesOther.htm and will let you know how they go (the cargo net is for a different purpose

). They charged only $9 for postage/packing which seems OK.

This site looks quite good for accessories.
