GSXR questions

Firstly, noticed my tyres are Kenda ones.... are they safe to ride on till I need new ones.... heard bad things about them...

My bike was purchased from a dealer and I have done 144km so far.... how often should I service it? what typically needs doing on this type of bike?

and finally.... what is the little plastic box like thing under the pillion seat?

Hey, I'm not sure about the tyres. I've never heard of Kenda before.
They should be alright for easy riding though, if you do more hard cornering or riding it might be an idea to look for some better tyres if you're not happy with your current ones that is.

When you bought it the dealer should have told you the last time it was serviced (I'd assume 144km ago before the sale). Most people seem to service their bike about every 5,000km or so for a 4stroke.

Can you attach an image of that plastic box at all? I'm not sure I'd know what it is but someone might. =)

Yeah I think it is a 'glovebox' for mottorcycles

Now just gotta get my bike goin; before I can service it!

Might take it easy on the Kendas~!

Only done 144kms

, get on that bike boy and do some riding lol, go out and enjoy yourself!!

Like it has been said above 5000km should be ok, if your doing easy riding. Shes a 4 stroke can go ages with ages without service lol

I would but as we speak she has a nice puddle of gas under her and she wont start

If the tyres that are on there at the moment have not given you any scares for the last 144k then they will be fine for a gentle pootle.

Kenda are only a budget tyre so dont go thinking your Rossi or the like but just take it nice and easy and they will be fine.

Kenda are budget tyres for cheap commuting. Once your bike is going properly, I suggest you invest in a set of Pirelli Sport Demons or Bridgestone BT45s. The 45s are dual compound, so they last well across the tread and just possibly are better than the SDs in the wet.

Yes, I suggest you get that pool of petrol checked out.
Check and see if it's leaking from the tank, tap, or carbs.

Sounds like alot of things have gone wrong with your bike in such a small time, not big things but still. I would have a talk with the dealer and tell him everything, might get a free service or something outa it

Actually bike has been fine for two months.... its just the last day or so that things have gone wrong, but I have contacted him....ball in his court now...

It is for storing all of the little bits of crap that we take along for a ride. A tyre repair kit is great to carry, along with gaffertape, cableties and a few tools. A first aid kit is always a good thing for "Justin Case".

Interesting, when I talked to two motorcycle shops they were adamant that the BT45s wheren't duel compound, even though I told them I'd been told they were. I've had the SDs and they were great, currently im running Pilot Activs though and they are also doing the trick, and they're a bit cheaper than the BT45s (which, also I was told the bike shop couldn't get in 140/70 17"

).

Good idea to call the dealer if the bike is having problems under the warranty! Make it their problem instead of yours
