Dogbones are exactly the wrong way of doing it because all too often it can have an adverse effect on the link ratio.

Dogbones are the links between the swing arm and the shock, personally i've not had an issue with them in the past. i used them on the B12 race series bike a couple of years back and they really transformed it. yes the best way is to fit a better quality shock, but rules stated we couldn't do that, so this was the only way to preload the spring and gain the ride height.

So back to the question... where can i get some?

Would do, minor flaw in the plan... shipping container full of toosl/bike ramp/paddock stands etc....including dogbones. still on it's way, looking for a quick fix really.

Yes it does sound like you have been lucky but frankly its dangerous to assume that you will have great results with all bikes. Some of the geomerty of mounting of the knuckles etc can be very sensitive to change and very often you can end up with a dead zone of movement. That used to happen with earlier GXR1000s when the ride height was jacked up too much.
Here in this sparsely populated country the chances of finding alternative pre-made dogbones are zilch, you will have to get them made.

So to jack the bike up you would use a link that has hole centres closer together than stock (on my bike anyway). How much closer are you talking ?

Get the file and the hacksaw out and go for it. It's only a couple hours work. No one ever uses a handtool any more..

Hand tools are for measuring and finishing for me, lathes and mills and gear hob's is so much more fun to play with..

I think not knowing if different length dogbones will adversely affect the link ratio and bike stability is a little akin to flying blind....

right, Done! got some new ones and the ride is as expected, so much better than before turns in quicker, rear shock working better due to preload.
    Thanks for the advice.
