    Marlborough fiasco

Im having the greatest difficulty getting my head around this mess,

the problem i have without taking sides is simple.

Noel Curr was the President at the time of the incident ,has subsequently been voted by his membership twice more over a two year period to be the President, and all of a sudden after this lengthy period of time a rule is going to be enforced to strip him of Presidency.

With the best will in the world,
this is wrong ! the Board and office didnt just find this rule ,if they did it indicates a woeful lack of our constitution ,so either it was ignored for two years until shock horror Elections and 150 votes plus that may or may not uphold the status quo ,and my monies leaning more toward the not, or it is yet another example of the manipulating of the rules to suit agendas.?

Now i dont have a problem as i have already said to some who have contacted me with Noel being censured, i do have a problem with MNZS complete inability to be professional about this, come on guys and the guyess ,your doing yourself no favours here with this all of a sudden flurry of threats .
Either your the slowest acting board in the history of our sport or theres something not at all on the level about this

I read this morning on holeshot an excerpt from the Sports tribunal ,i have read the rest and it does neither side any credit.
The Board and the office are supposed to represent us professionally ,guys you
have failed on this one .
My question to you all is this , as i understand it two board members are not seeking re election and the President has a serious contender in the wings.
In order not to appear petty and small minded and following your own agendas why not leave it to the new board coming in .

If this was your club, wouldnt you be pissed, kicked out, no vote, no licence and no junior nats, this club at least put its hand up to "help" the MX community to spread events round and on what they have delivered in the past would make a pretty good fist of it,
If this isnt a personal vendetta against Noel Curr, I ride a vespa !!!!

Yep - the issue would appear to be that some at the Helm of MNZ are unwilling or unable to seperate the Noel who HAS been a thorn in the Corporate side , from the Noel who's done so much for the Sport in his and surrounding areas, and who the membership of the Marlborough Club clearly want to lead them for another term

Evidently we have a "rule" to cover any and all occasions, and bugger me if there isnt one thats TAILOR MADE for the "Noel Curr Scenario"

Safe bet that the Constitution of the Marlborough Club doesnt REQUIRE any office bearer ( or ANY member ) to be a Member of MNZ. To my mind the Clubs Rules should take precedence over MNZ's attempt to stifle Noel.

To trample roughshod over the democratic rights of every other Member of the Marlborough Club to get one more over on their President cant be disguised or sanitised, it MUST be seen for what it is

Wish the wind would change direction, theres a hell of a stink in the air .......

No-one is claiming Sainthood for Noel, not even Noel himself !

The issue is the fact that every OTHER member of that Club would appear to be getting the shaft too. I cant be the only bugger in the country who sees that for exactly what it is, surely .......

    So TRUE.

The Current President and members of the Administration are quite simply out to get Noel. This would include the CEO. You only have to look at how certain incidents post 'New Plymouth 2007' have been handled to see this.

Just ask JimT and the Wanganui Club about the supposed sidecar incident.

They seem to fixate on issues, rather than resolving them and moving on.

    SIMPLE ANSWER AT PRESENT.

I've often wanted to grab you by the throat and punch you out Chop, don't hold it agaist the guy.

In seriousness though, this sounds like a fairly big issue and I can see both sides of the coin.

The Club has obviously voted Noel in so they see him as doing alright by them. However, it would appear that the dude's got some pretty serious anger managment issues to have two seperate instances that are public knowledge of violence towards either MNZ officials or competitors.

Granted though, this sshould not be coming to a heada after two years of no action by MNZ.

    Trashy,

When you talk about incidents involving MNZ officials, one must be careful who's version of events you use. There are a lot of riders around who would fit into the same group, even other officials and organisers, but because they are not Noel Curr, NOTHING HAPPENS.

They need to take a moment in time, resolve everthing at that point and move on.

    Mmmmm, I see your point.

However, quite frankly if there's this sort of carry on and hostility becoming a regular occurence from riders towards MNZ officials, I would bloody hope something was done about it. I've been pretty pissed off in a couple of instances over the past couple of years by different scenarios, but it's never occured to me that someone might need a smack or even the threat of one.

Granted though, MNZ should not be enforcing a different set of rules for one person they have a vendetta against.
