Shorthly before 7:30 pm last night while the police commander was being interviewed on TV, some armed police were leaving the area and an ambulance was allowed into the so called danger zone. When the commander was asked if the offender was dead he claimed that he didn't know, but his body language screamed liar. He did know, and could have answered with a "No Comment", but instead chose to lie outright.

Have we all got such short memories about a discussion only a few months ago where it was made clear that ambulalnce staff would not be permitted inside the police cordon until the police were sure that all offenders had been dealt with. Here we have an abulance not just entering the cordoned area but going right into the danger zone. That showed that the offender was either dead or captured by 7:30 pm last night.

As of 9.00 am the siege in Napier continues. Streets are still cordoned off, the ordinary man in the street is still inconvenienced, there is still a huge police presence in our city, the army and helicopters are still here. People are still unable to return to/leave their homes.
I find it hard to believe that this man is dead, why else is it all still going on?
It is NOT over!

In case they open the door to the house and the whole house turns into a giant crater taking neighbouring houses with it. The gunman's mate said it's highly possible that the house was booby trapped with explosives.

Sigh, it is still going on because who would walk into a house where it is highly likely (as stated)... that there are bombs, booby traps etc. I would suggest people stop listening to the news, and wait till its all over to receive the facts.

I feel for the community!!! and for the families involved.

The patience is being tested .. .the guy died the moment he decided to kill a cop .. thats the truth .. he sent his partner out of the house knowing he would not live through the ordeal ....

All the speculation is horrific ... waiting for an official word would be good ... relying on the media is a waste of time - as half of what they come up with comes out the hole which helps their body excrete.
