Surprisingly enough, they do. I work with a relative of the fallen officer and he is a damned "good bastard".

wow .. gotta say im amazed on so many levels ..

1) ONE MAN paralized your entire police force/ army / SAS. god help you if someone REALLY motivated gave it a go..i bet Al Qeda is watching this story with interest..

2)your leaders left a man behind lying dead on the sidewalk for 2 days. (SEMPER FI)

3) youve killed a cop.. shot 2 more and you're armed to the teeth and barricaded inside your house and you SHOOT YOURSELF?????.. FFS man .. no glory in eating a bullet ..nows when ya find out

4) i never realized KB was so full of Tactical Entry Specialists, Psychiatrists and all around hard men.. go on boys .. the police obviously need your help .. go join up and prove how utterly BAD you are .. you coulda sorted this out in an hour by yourself

5) the police Intel / profiling units obviously failed.. as did the NZ Unarmed Police policy.. you serve a drug warrant.. ANY Drug warrant .. you go in with a SWAT team.. not a friendly knock on the door

Does sitting tight and waiting for him to shoot himself or otherwise fuck up count as 'paralysed'? Seems like a reasonable approach to me. I'm sure many things would've been done differently if he'd had a hostage in there with him.
