Timely reminder for the people calling them pigs and scum and being quite happy to watch them get the bash. They are out there often putting their life on the line.

All the cop bashing that goes on honestly begins to get tiresome. Walk in their shoes for one day and deal with the crap that they have to. They do their best to protect us on a daily basis. And they are the ones who have to knock on our door in the middle of the night to let us know our loved ones won't be coming home. I can honestly admit that I wouldn't be able to do it. Would you? (And don't sit here smugly and claim that you would/could do it).

bad news - Reports are coming in that the second police office has died.

Apparently the guy has hostages in the house where is is holed up.

The Outlaws do indeed have a gang pad in Ahuriri. It is quite a distance from Chaucer Rd and the Botanical Gardens. Apart from mentioning it (gratuitously?) there is no reason to think a gang member is/was involved. Although it could be the case.

Tragic!
There was a lot of police activity as I was on my way to school this morning...I thought that there may have been an accident...
Napier Girls High School has been in 'lockdown' all day. Poor kids (about 900) of them and their teachers confined to the floor of their classrooms away from the windows all day...this has affected a lot of people...our own students and staff who live in that area are not allowed home at this stage.
I hope it ends soon.

Been listening to newstalk ZB where lots of locals are ringing in and being question by Danny Watson about what they can see "live" what the cops are doing, which scholls are in lock up (kids insde) people advising which roads they are on and what they can see, one guy rung and said "yes yes I see 8 cops getting into helicopters now"

interestingly a old bugger rung up and suggested to Danny he should stop helping the bad guy and potentially telling him whats going on from the perspective the bad guy would possibly be listening giving the offender a live feed as to what the cops and public are doing, Danny shut him down quickly and rudely and kept taking calls about it.

Danny has just spoken to Greg Oconnor, the police union guy, Greg suggested the Media needs to be careful what is broadcast as the offender is likely listening, Danny says yes yes of course we all need to be careful at this time.

They have said a second cop died - he hasnt.

They said that the 'baddie' was a member of the Outlaws - now saying he is not a member of a gang.

They said he had hostages in the house - and now he dosnt.

If they dont know - dont make the shit up.
