    World Superbikes - Monza

Actually missed the first race but just heard the commentators say Ben Spies ran out of gas in the first race!
    What the fuck?
I hope heads will roll for that!

Not that I can really talk I always run out on the track, but you would think that in a world superbike race that they would have their shit together

I guess at least he is cranking in race 2! Poor Haga though

According to the commentators there was a rumour going around Suzuki wanted him for Moto GiP next year but they also took the time to say it is not true. Spies for Tech 3 Yamaha squad in the near future?

How Gut wrenching it was to see Spies run out of fuel in the last lap after such a great race he rode and he truely did deserve the win, even though I barrick for the Ducatis.
I thought the mechanics in his team would do their calculations into making sure that his bike would have enough fuel to do the laps required for the race. He seemed to have had enough in the tank to finish the 2nd race. And Congratulations to him for finishing on top of that 1.
That was 1 spectacular crash at the start of the 1st race delaying the start by an hour an a half. Just happy that everyone who was involved in it got out of it ok, even though 2 riders broke their legs and wont be racing now for about 6 weeks.

Reading the reports it seems as though he had a full tank but that wasn't enough!! So it may have been a miscalculation by his race engineer calculating his engine mapping etc but he may have been riding harder than in practice. Hard to know for sure though.

Haga made a royal cock up of that opportunity. Looking at the coverage it looked as though he hit a bird going through the second corner in the lead of lap 1 in the second race and that is what demoted him to 15th. If he had of just cruised home and taken 10 points it would have certainly made things easier for the rest of the season. Spies is only going to get faster, not sure how much faster haga can get?

“Right at the start of Race two I was hit by a bird on my right arm; it hurt a lot and I lost all sensation, with strong pain and pins and needles in my right arm and hand. I tried to continue to race but it was too difficult to ride and as a result I unfortunately fell. Yes it hurts but I should be back in top shape very soon."

Do you think the Ducati might need a little bit more than a polish after that off ? That corner looks pretty daunting ? Gaz.

You'd never go hungry with Nigella Gaz.
If it weren't for flashbacks...I'd have no memory at all..

Yeah would have been a 150k+ off. It cleared the tyre wall and landed over the back where the marshals were standing! The pile up at the first corner would have probably had a slightly bigger bill!!

Nah, that's why it's a team sport, and you support your team mates. Should Spies be booted out 'cos he touched a wheel on the astro-turf and trashed a bike and possibly the team's title hopes? Hell no, you learn from your mistakes and move on.

There are just too many variables to say "you're a cock!" and boot the person out. It coulda been Spies fault for all we know, he may have had a couple of maps to select from and taken the chance on running the thirsty one too long, he may have said "That's all I've got!" in testing, fuel calculated +5% and then found a bit more during the race.

There are far too many variables to lay blame, and even if you could why would you draft in someone new when you can guarantee whoever fucked up would never make that mistake again.

Fabrizio was fast in corners, Haga just can't keep up. That was a good battle and a come back but that was so so so gutted for Spies. That guy deserve a bling.

The most annoying thing of the race is when it suddenly lost the audio/sounds/commentators when Spies run out of Gas at the end of race 1. I was like WTF WTF WTF HAPPENED??? WHY DID HE STOP? WERE THERE TITS??? Maybe the commentator got too excited and peed on his transmitter below the table.
