on my way to kmart i stopped at the haywards lights and waited for them to go green, there was this red ute behind me awfully close, i think nothing of it and go on the green, hoon up the haywards pass a couple cars at bout 120km, red ute in tow, think to my self its just a hoon. get to the golf course and pass 4 cars in a row just after the double yellow lines doing about 110 as they wer going slow and i pull in behind this yellow mini.

get to the pawatahanui round about and go left towards mana. i notice the yellow mini weaving and ducking and decide to pass him even though its double yellow lines as i feel uncomfortable behind him. still dong the speed limit i go all the way to the moble station and start filling up, walk in to pay and com back out to cop car with its lights going parked behind my bike.

cop gets out and say we have had reports that you ran a red light was speeding and overtook several cars on double yellow lines and overtook a yellow mini on a blind corner...

i say i'm sorry what did you say officer...? that doesn't sound like me at all. are you sure you have the right bike? cop says some one called it in so it must be true.

hey look that red ute pulls up cop goes and talk to the guys and comes back and say this fore fighter said you did all these things so they must be true.

hmmm... ok i did not run a red light mr police man and but i did over take some cars on a white line area but did not exceed 110km mr police man, the yellow mini i also passed but only because he was driving erratically, i think you should breath test him mr police man.

police man say's i'm going to issue you with a infringement notice for "overtaking on the wrong side of a marked yellow line". if you wish to dispute this the firefighter has said he will gladly take this to court.

There's a specific exemption if you're calling 111 or *555 and it's impractical to stop to do so - which might include because you're following the person you're reporting, I don't know.

dude! I feel for you, litterally! I had the same thing happen to me on the same stretch of road, years ago in a, witness recond I was passing on yellow lines and doing 160kph (up hill in 1300 escort???) cops tried to bully me into pleading on dangerous driving, I refused, it went to court where they dropped the charges to careless (ass wipes) got a $90 fine because I admited to passing the witness before the old 1 lane bridge, the judge found no evidence of any other offence and actually told the cop of for pushing the witness to press charges, I doubt the charge would stand up in court

true... they can't fine you if they weren't there to witness the event can they?

cause the officer didn't even say i would receive any demerit points either... he just said that i would receive an infringement notice in the mail.
