Can no one find this tag or is no one riding tonight ??
i diont quite understand the analogies here Kenny. The whole rythym of the game has certainly changed, and i think is a victim of our own enthusiasm.I do not for a minute beleive that this has been a deliberate process. There is so much competition for the tag now that when i go out to get a tag i go straight there and straight back.I do not go out until i am 100 percent sure where it is.So I get the tag and i come straight back home.If i see a likely tag i grab it but it is more than likely on the flight path. The reason for that is obvious, any delay and the tag will likely be gone. And humour or not there is definite expectation there will be a new tag posted straight away.I would like the game to be more relaxed but to date there have been 47 players.Even with a group of 6 or 7 people looking at the thread at one time you know there is going to be competition to to get the tag. How do we resolve this?.I dont know(well i have some ideas) burt until then i am playin the game as it is now.If you want a tag in the rapa then do it.If it means we have to wait half a day so be it.The days of 10 players spread between wellington tawa porirua, lower hutt and wainui ,with three more on the coast have long gone.
There are ways that we can force the game to change more to HE's liking, I personally was more than happy to play as I can where I can without imposing more rules, but if the time comes where fair game play seems lost then I'm sure we can find a solution.
All I am saying is that the game was meant as a way to get out and ride. The tag used to move from Plimmerton to Mirimar and then maybe the Hutt and then Welly. What is happening now is that it is more important to get the tag count up and your name at the top of the leader board. To achieve this, the tag is being moved local so that people can get 2-3 tags in the same day without having to ride. Tags are being placed so they are instantly recognisable to the local so they can then wait for the next one. I know Cloggy as well as myself used to enjoy the challenge of the search as much as the ride.
Whilst I think it is brilliant the amount of work you have put into the stats sheet, it has driven the change in the way the game is being played. That is why I removed my tag count from my signiture. Everyone is focused on the stats sheet rather than just playing the game. The recent heated discussion about the Tawa tag is a pefect example of this. Argueing about whose tag it was and who got the best pic!
I think that the mobile upload has also chased a number of people away from the game.
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker
We came, We listened, And in one voice we answered
BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!!
It is interesting that the game has evolved and IMHO has been the 'victim' of it's own success with new players joining in a climate of 'competition' for tag count. I agree that when I first encountered the game the real challenge was identifying the tag.
The changes in peoples life/schedules locations has influenced where people are tagging and when. Personally I enjoy a tag as an add on to my daily ride, and don't have the budget for recreational longer rides for tags further from home, however more important is that enough players stay engaged in the game to keep it vibrant and challenging.
We don't need anymore rules, the ones we have are perfectly adequate and the only thing we need to do IMHO is to discourage the routine use of file pics. This will slow the game down. It will also mean that rather than pressure to get a replacement 'close and local' time can be taken to ride for a new tag.
Rant over.
i find the surching the most "charter building" thing i do when looking for a tag... i even have been known to pull hair out....
even swear at the puter for not know what i wanted to find... but the enjoyment to final find it... then go and get it, is great fun, unfortunately i have been busy/lazy lately...
as for the mobile up-loads.... i am in two minds over this....
i do not have that sort of phone, therefor i could miss out... but hey, i would have had a ride!!
and i know of a couple of good ones in the rappa that will take some finding....(unless Quassi knows i've taken the photo.. lol)
what a ride so far!!!!
