Damn and bugger it....

Due to prolonged sickness, forgetfullness (ex head injury... forgot to ring the boss when I had a bad flu after travelling overseas recently) and recession pressures I have lost my job.

After buggering up the home life this year really has turned to shit. Despite that a full return to home is likely in the next few months.

Anyone needing my number, it is updated on my profile.

I cant afford the texts back and forth right now!

Oh, and the busa is for sale on trademe. Its basically new as I left it at home when I moved out. Damn I would love to ride it again soon!

Anyone needing a now healthy ex banker with experience in all sorts of shit let me know. I am prepared to work huge hours of course.

Been here before and will bounce back again in time. Still very bad timing with two little ones and a mortgage!

Sorry about the bad news, but hey, it's just a job. You're a resourceful chap, and there are always options. I've been in the same place before (I'm pretty close to being there again, actually) and it is a bit terrifying, but it's also a chance to re-examine what's really important. Every time I've done that it isn't the mortgage or the stuff that comes out top, it's people. (Usually little people, too )

Hey m8, keep ya head up. Work on sorting ya relationship and being with ya kids as that is the most important thing in life.
I got told once that even when you are in your deepest hole and it seems to only be getting worse keep your mind on the positive outcome.
If you need to scream/shout at anyone let me know, you can scream at me! If you want to kick the crap out of some bags to get rid of frustration, again let me know and I will let you take out your frustrations at my Kickboxing gym.

Mate that's great advice and yes I would like to kick the crap out of something! Although I am surprisingly calm about everything and pretty relaxed. Just spending time at home today with Di and the kids which is awesome. They are two cute kids!

My sympathies too Toaster. You need your family and your mates at a time like this. Its true that a trouble shared is a trouble halved......good man for posting.

You sound like you know how to be organised. Let a few days pass and think about your choices. You have skills and experience which are going to be useful. Come up with a plan and put it into action.

I've just watched a close female friend go through two years of ups and downs. She's highly educated but has developed a narrow career path where jobs are few - and rare when a recession hits. I tried to encourage her to take a job - any job, just to pay the bills. However she insisted on trying to stay with her chosen field, scoring a (highly paid) job eventually, only to lose it because of recessionary pressures.

All this time she lived on her savings - or in reality, her overdraft. Finally she has landed an entirely different sort of job and is happy. Thank goodness.

The point is, there is work out there, but you might be wise to do some lateral thinking. One bank manager friend of mine left the bank to work as a manager for a trucking firm. It was great. Unfortunately he did too good a job reorganising the business which became so simple the owner laid him off. He now manages a pub.
