CHCH: Have they gritted the road to Akaroa yet?

As per subject, wanted to take my freshly rebuilt CB175 over to Akaroa tomorrow (Saturday 16th) but wouldn't be quite so keen if the roads all gritted up.

    Cheers,

It's not that the grit is a problem, it just takes most of the fun off of it :]

Its fine, there is a little bit on a few corners but not too bad. The day should be OK but try and leave relatively early to miss the major traffic.

I did Chch - Diamond Harbour - Purau - Okains and back via SH75 today.

Just went to that place (that starts with a D that i wont even bother trying to spell) after barrys bay, and it was nice as no grit even though the signs were up, 5 new sections of seal that were perfectly smooth and no cars from the top of the hill until just after gebbies pass...

Freakin beautiful. Was a shame that i got totally raped by the wind on the way home, made it exciting. tons of other bikes out too.
