well i came to get your aid by chance.. i have a friend that told me this is a
g8 community so...here goes
all i need to know is how can i open my XF650 Headlight...it seems its glued with some rubber stuff :S i need to fix the Reflector inside so plz....help me.

Hi there
I would imagine the lense is sealed to the lamp body by a type of urethane based adhesive (is it soft & rubber like or hard?) if it is urethane there are solvents available that will soften it to allow removal though you would need to get the right type.
Failing that I would leave the lamp unit in a warm place (like in the sun laying on a dark object so it soaks up as much heat as possible) this should soften the adhesive/bonder and then slowly and carefully using a sharp knife cut through the bead of urethane and carefully prise the lense from the base.
Any good urethane type glue could be used to reseal the unit.
Biggest thing with jobs like this is to take your time and proceed carefully.
If you do happen to cut into the plastic base or make a bit of a mess some black silicone sealer will hide any mistakes and provide a factory look finish if done carefully - a good tip with silicone sealer is to spit on your finger and run it over the join, this gives a nice smooth finish and stops the sealer sticking to your finger.

1st of all for the silicone tip...its good also when i repair the bath....so i dont get smelli hands ^^
second of all the adhesive is soft...and i just got a tip to warm the lamp in an oven for 15 min at 250 degrees Fahrenheit / 120 Celsius ( Youtube movie for Angle eyes Installing ^^) BUT i think its much more safer and smarter to try 1st in the sun....
again thanx will let you know how things go on.

I saw the same video, and I think that will be the best way by far. If the high temperature worries you, then start at a lower temp, but I think you are more likely to break something by having it to too cold and applying too much force. Better to have it a little warmer and it come apart more easily.

No worries - but as the other guys have suggested if you have access to a heat gun (or at a pinch a hair dryer) that would be preferable to the oven, as always just use care. Although I'm guessing by your location the sun should have a fair bit of heat at this time of year!

save yaself a truckload of issues. Go see a glazier. They will have the propper tools for the job. It will take them about 5 minutes to cut thet lens free for ya AND most important will have the propper stuff to stick it back together for ya.
