As usual we had alot of last minute worries with the bikes!
I had to put a new piston in mine, the bore was marginal so to save the decision I robbed the barrel and piston I have had tucked away for the spare engine I've been trying to get sorted.
Hells took it out to the test day to break it in and learn the track.
It started blowing gearbox oil again!
Last time it did that I ended up in an impressive flying photo!
Luckily I had learnt from that experiance and now have a much better catch system with a stronger clip over the breather hose so the oil ends up in the bottle and not on the back tyre.
I was thinking it must be the crank seals.
To add to this problem I got Helens bike back together on thursday night (leaving friday...) to (LUCKILY!) Notice tiny drops of water bubbling out from between the cases near the water jacket...
To fix this wee cockup of mine was easy but would require complete dissasembly and reassmbly on the engine.
Out came the K***D IT...
The bonus was as I filled up the gearbox oil I noticed somthing.
I was putting in what should have been a litre, slightly less then the proper 1050ml that it should be but its only 50ml off...
I had done this without checking the level plug the last 2 times.
When I unscrewwed it this time a dribble came out, thats cool but it kept going....
Dumb bastard!
I'd been overfilling the gearbox, no need to worry about crank seals after all!:slap:
I got a new battery for both bikes and dropped them in along with a richer main jet on mine (Change only one thing at a time, I know!)
Thankfully the bikes both ran very well all day, mine finally seemed to loose the last lot of midrange sag I have been trying to eliminate for soo long, after all this it was mostly due to a failing battery!
Races were great.
Qualifying was scarybut I was very happy with a front row grid position, second 150. I was on the right side, somthing I preferr to the inside on turn one.
Race one.
The clutch adjuster (not at the lever end) started to unwind on the grid (The fingertight bandit strikes again...) I couldn't shift into neutral so I was holding the bike back against the increasing drag waiting for the lights.....
Come on...

Wiked launch, break for turn one, good track position, the 250s are inside, one of the billington buys hesitated on turn in... sweet, there is the gap.
GO!
An awesome feeling as I take the lead in a race for the first time ever!!
I held it for a bit but cocked up the sweeper onto the long straight and let two of the 250's past (they race for different points so not all bad but it is nice to make them work)
Came home in first for Streetstock 150.
Race2:
Thought I would try and replicate race one.
Good in theory, totally mared turn one in practice, I went in guns blazing
I ran wide and lost HEAPs of places.
BUT!
Having the outside of the track and a totally different line gave me an unforseen advantage against the freight train, I took a real straightline run though the angry swarm of wasps and my uprightedness against their leanyovered ness in a big traffic jam gave me a good shot though.
I got into 1st 150 with 3 250's in front by turn 4!
Stoked with that I tried to take on the 250's for the rest of the race but wasn't going to do anything silly to get past. I didn't get past them.
Dan Plaisted was pushing for first when he put his hand up and slowed down.
Broken Ignition wire.
Damn shame as he was having an awesome run against the Billington boys.
I kept it upright and running, no gearbox oil in the catch tank
so managedagain!
