    Bring back the rope.

    http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crim...d-life-in-jail

Scum like this make me sick to my stomach. I want to get a rope and hang them from the nearest tree. Does anyone else believe we should bring back capital punishment?

Not a fan of capital punishment...
If it were still being used, there would a few innocent dead people in the ground.
On the other hand...in some cases, if the accused is found guilty beyond all doubt then...maybe.

Bell, Burton, are some of the names that come to mind to swing from a tree, there is no doubt about "an innocent" being executed, unless I missed something here, help me out.....

If you believe in the right to self defence, then surely you must believe in the right of society to defend them selfs from these "people". They must be permanantly removed from society....... rope or cell......

While I'm not going to vote on the poll, cause I don't feel like it, why the fuck is some loser like this still walking the streets?
He killed someone when he was 14, and now he's punching pregnant woman - His partner, in the goddamn stomach!
    Ffs, KWIMINOLS HAV WITES, TOO!
Some people just can't seem to comprehend that they do not have the right to be unoffended in their lives.

There are indiviuals that should certainly have no place in society.
Then there are those that have been convicted of a serious crime, for example, Arthur Allen Thomas, who ten years later was released and his conviction quashed. In that senario (had capital punishment still been in service) he probably would have hanged for the double murder of which he was innocent of.

Agree with Maha. There are definitely some cases where some people should never be let out in public again and are a drain on tax payers $$, however I for one would still not want to be a jury member where capital punishment would be the punishment handed down. Bring back chain-gangs and castration.

I am sick and tired of my tax money being spent on some fuck-knuckle c00nt like this who murders people/kids. These murderers are vicious thugs that show no remorse, and have no respect for the community or anything in it.

They do not deserve to be in our society.

In prison they get 3 meals a day, exercise, underfloor heating, TV, and even drugs FFS!! I read somewhere it costs around $40,000 per year to lock someone up!?!?!

The only thing that really shits me about the death penalty is that the victims have to deal with a lifetime pain and/or suffering but the perp gets off with death and limited suffering.

    BUT....
The trouble is our justice system is absolute shyte that we often get it wrong.

Agreed, but with the current law eventually Bell and Burton will be released. Wasnt Thomas pardoned, after two trials found him guilty? Not a quashed conviction. Albeit a case of "possible" tampering of evidence. But there are cases out there of convicted criminals reoffending and one would have to say they have had there chance, they failed........

    Disagree with Capital punishment,

Agree with crims working their arses off to pay their way in prison. $70,000/year for their upkeep is a lot of rocks to break... and max security costs more so they work harder.

Those found innocent later get a refund (and while I recognise it doesn't really address their loss it goes some way to restitution and avoids the "drain on society" vs. "innocent people getting murdered bny the state" argument)

What is it with this habit of pulling some horrific piece of shit out of the media and eating in front of everyone? Don't you get it that they do this intentionally just to wind the fuck out of you? Why go along with it? Don't you have enough angst in your life already? Why eat someone elses turd? Go and polish your bike, or something that makes you feel GOOD instead of BAD. C'mon people.

Too true, one counter argument for the cost of live time inprisonment is the cost to society if they are let out. I for one would be infavour of capital punishment not on a cost for or against but on the basis of that it is society's last measure of defence against people like this. They are sociopaths who have absolutly no understanding of the harm and damage they do and simply dont care. I'm not talking about the Scott Watsons (I believe guilty) or the David Banes (guilty) these are potentially one off killers. (2 / 5) but of with the repeat murderers, whats wrong with letting them hang?

Maybe if governments & the 'justice system' did their jobs in the first place, repeat violent offenders wouldn't get backout among the rest of us to continue their trail of destruction.

I'm all for popping one in the head of this pond scum.
    Or hanging, hangings good

If we stopped listening to the idiots like the Howard League for Penal Reform, we could reduce the cost of prisons drastically. Take away the Flatscreen TV's, the playstations, the underfloor heating (Milton Hilton anyone?). Bring back cold dark wet dungeons, bread and water and hard labour. Then maybe I could live with putting them in prison for life. But as it stands now, a prison sentence is a glorified holiday.
