I'd be keen on a Saturday ride if someone else is - my partner wouldn't be happy if I leave her at home with the boy on sunday (mother's day). Plus we have plans.

The 22 was in terrible shape a few weekends ago, I'd advise avoiding it if possible. The other roads Heatherington etc are all in real good nick though.
I've been doing a nice little loop up there where I ride up Rotowaro, left onto waikokowai, continue right up Waikokowai, straight on to Rotongaro, then left up Glen Massy and hook onto the 22.
Could use this route and then head on to Port Waikato

The Rotongaro road in particular is one of my most fav's.

Absolutely. Someone has to tell Spazm where the gravel to be swept up is.

Maybe pick up any Hamiltonians on the way (Limestone downs?)

Mostly gravel with a flounder in the farmers stream at Bridal Veil falls if it's practical and I promise not to blow up anything at home that prevents me coming this time (fingers crossed).

    So kind of you
Many others (not naming names, Ckai) would just let me go wandering off looking for gravel/grit everywhwere

You know the rally isn't at the Downs on Saturday? The only reason I know is that we're going up to watch the father-in-law race (he is very much not driving a rally car). It'll be good to see these guys (and the rally guys) on the track.

    Huh?

Day 2 Saturday 8 May – Franklin / North Waikato
    First Car in action
    SS10 New Franklin 1 7:43am
    SS11 Baker 1 8:33am
    SS12 SKYCITY Te Akau Coast 1 9:11am
    SS13 Hampton Downs Super Special 1 11:46am
Service Hampton Downs – Meet the drivers 12:05pm
    SS14 New Franklin 2 12:49pm
    SS15 Baker 2 1:39pm
    SS16 SKYCITY Te Akau Coast 2 2:17pm
    SS17 Hampton Downs Super Special 2 3:59pm
Service Queens Wharf – Meet the crews 5:10pm

The new Hampton Downs Motorsport Park provides a fantastic venue for two super special stages for the WRC and other rally crews on the brand-new race track, as well as the teams’ 15-minute remote service at midday. With cars being started in pairs 5 seconds apart, expect an exciting demonstration of the speed of different competitors as they tackle the tarmac circuit using gravel-spec Pirelli tyres.

The competitors in the Possum Bourne Memorial Trophy Rally also contest Rally New Zealand’s Saturday stages, including the super special stages at Hampton Downs.

Complementing the two WRC super special stages, a whole day of exciting motorsport action is guaranteed – drifting, freestyle motocross, speed comparisons, handicap saloon car races, WRC driving demonstrations, tyre changing competitions, driver autograph sessions and much, much more.
