Fantastic rideand the breakfast was yummy, thanks Murray for organising today
Was great to see some of the original group and some new faces. Having never been on road between Kawhia and Waitomo was most impressed.
Safely
Yeah thanks Murray for the brekky. I think Brooke had forgotten how much work it was on a bikeShe ride mine a little of the way back then gave up saying she was too sore. Which was fine by me since I think the Suzuki is like riding an arm chair.
If kids birthday parties don't interfere I am going to try for next weekend.
For those of you who have been on a LOR in the past and could not make it on Sunday. Just a brief summary. Left the Hotel 10.30 very sharp with 19 bikes and picked up another 2 as we were leaving and another one in Pirongia (22 in total). Beautiful hot day and some new faces and some old ones and a good group. Managed to get a little confused heading to Pirongia but all got there safely. Ride through to Kawhia was great with good roads and excellent conditions, from there through to Waitomo and then onto Piopio was interesting with roadkill, melting tar, horses, punga's etc on the road but fabulous scenery and roads. Stopped at Piopio for a bite to eat and back up to otorahanga (4 bikes did the half trip heading home from Waitomo). Took the back road to Te Awamutu and regrouped. Lost mikemike and not sure where he went to as Trina passed him on way to Otorahanga but I didnt see him. Hope you got home OK and your bike stopped overheating!!
All in all a great ride and nice to meet some new people.

Yep - great ride all. Thanks to you Murray for eaties at Kingsgate...
That melting tar added interest to the ride I'd hafta say. Third time I've been through there - only time with liquid roads. First time the road was covered with grit from the winter. Second time I went through Marakopa and down to Awakino so missed the hill section over to Waitomo.
See ya all next time I can get out.

Turns out the bike has a blown head gasketso its sitting at Honda Hamilton till they have enough staff back from holiday to be able to look at fixing it, In the meantime they wouldn't lend me a bike so I'm set to rely on the wife & workmates to get to work and back till its done, they also think it needs one or maybe two engine mounts (plus associated bits and pieces) so it may be at the shop for a week or so I guess and I'm sure it will be another $1200 - 1500 dollars spent. It'll be a six thousand dollar 89 GPX after this!
Sorry to have lost you all, I have no idea how that happened because I thought I was behind Trina but in front of Channan and Murray?? I got to Shell(?) in oto's and refilled the radiator then cruised home slowly because after being at the petrol station for half an hour and still having seen none of the rest of you I rightly presumed I was on my own.
Good ride though, I've never been down that back road from Waitomo to the end of Trooper's road.
That seriously sucks. You could buy my complete bike for $1500 if the girlfriend would let me sell it!
Oh and a big thanks to Murray for cleaning my bike while i ate breakfast!!
Two things i forgot to do were clean the bike and clean the visor. I did remember to check tyre pressure and put fuel in it though![]()
Thanks for the great Day out in the
Here is a couple photos that i took with my phone.
What a great turn out. Well done LOR riders
