Ye you should come. Be a reasonably sweet ride north to Hampton Downs on the west side of the river wouldnt it? And some filming/ pics would be wicked for the guys that are on track i'm sure
I'll be going up to watch you laxed out riders take on the Hampton Downs Track...
As I currently cant afford new Front brake pads, Oil Change and new rear tyre due Student Life I can't join you on the track.

So If anyone wants some photos taken or can Lend me a camera for the afternoon send me a PM

    6R on 18/1/2012

Hiya Murray. I have booked to go for the 6R finally and think I need to practice the U turns - what was the U turn street again u took me on? I thought it was about time especially as they changing the laws 1. give way, 2. weight ratio for learner bikes, 3. removal of the age benefit for reducing test wait durations etc

One thing they are changing to my benefit is that the cost to sit the restricted is going up next month and the cost to sit the full is going down (which I will be doing in 6 months if pass next weeks 6R)

I have heard people have had to do it here http://maps.google.co.nz/?ll=-37.781...343390474,,0,0

I had to do one for my full licence here http://maps.google.co.nz/?ll=-37.748...10011404317578

I put my foot down and still passed. The guy said all they are looking for is proper head checks and indicating so foot down didn't matter. Could be different with a different tester though!

I'd say the only issue they're really have with putting your foot down is if you were still moving or moving at a speed that putting your foot down would be dangerous. The way I look at it is it'd be safer for you and other road users to put your foot down when riding real slow then to drop the bike. But like you said, probably different for different testers.

Doesn't hurt to ask them first though ah?

    Blue Stratos or Old Spice

I've got a plan, if the tester is female I put on a bit of Old Spice, if male then lashings of Blue Stratos

whats this whole weight ration for learner bikes? i havent heard about this(not that it matters for me). they give you a pretty wide road for your u-turn, when i sat my full i rode terribly and still passed, wobbly as all hell on my u-turn and i actually pulled out in front of some one when i did it(didn't see them(bad head check, my bad)) i thought they wer to close but the tester didn't say anything about it.

I took The Vixen in to Boyds for a "pre-trackday" check this morning. Rear brake pads were sub standard and had to be replaced. All else good to go.

This has turned into quite an expensive exercise - entry fee is the least of it...

It's a good idea doing the "pre-trackday" check!! They will have a look at your bike before it goes on the track and they told me I needed new front brake pads for next time... and that was about 2,000km ago
So it would of costed me: $200 for front brake pads, $60ish for oil change and a new rear tyre $300 (the track loves eating the sides of the tyres!!!!)

Much rather put this towards my aviation headset. I'm still saving =p

    Old Spice??? Try this.
Just make sure you make exaggerated head turns when checking mirrors, side roads, intersections etc.

Kiwi law is going to adapt the oz law - here is an example of approved bikes for NSW http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/licensing/...ist_120103.pdf
And page 2 of this http://www.nzta.govt.nz/consultation...cs/q-and-a.pdf regarding the proposed changes

Glenn from Boyd Motorcycles is running a one day ride on the 29th of January from Hamilton to Mike's Brewery in the Naki for lunch. Departs Boyds at 9:30am and follows some of Waikato's most stunning roads. I have already penciled it in my calendar (weather dependant ofcourse)
