Can't remember that and can't think why we may have done it, if we did??? LOR have never checked anyones license or registration and as Adam said we believe in individual responsibility.

The only thing we ask for, is for people to not ride beyond their limit or ability and to be safe!!

I used the wrong words - "checking" should be "looking" It was the day that I wanted someone to check my great riding skills and I stated my background about having a 6L for over 20 years - then I showed that I still had the 6L.

It really comes down to if it's an organised event (ride) or not. It really pisses me off that people who organise events have to cover their asses first and foremost. All because if the shit hits the fan, people can't say "yip I'm responsible for myself".

Yeah if you organise something, you always want to "protect" the other participants but let's face it, if someone is riding like a tool in front of you, it's your responsibility to either pull back and let them do what they're gonna do so you don't get collected or pull them over (if you have the gonads), take their keys and tell them to piss off by themselves so they don't kill anyone else.

I always think of LOR as someone coming up with a destination and a route and others following. No structure and just a few mates chilling. Hence no need for checks cause no one needs to cover their ass.

    More structure = more responsibility.

haha I do remember the shit-storm that followed from the Pyes Pa incident. That actually REALLY annoyed me. And I wasn't even there.

Chick without licence on a ninja 250 went wide on a corner and clipped a truck...dude following her collected her bike. He also had either no licence or wrong licence (was riding a 600 at the time I believe).

Wasn't involved in the ride only met the dude at a bike wreckers after the incident where he told me what happened.

Met the chick and her partner a few times as I grabbed a few things for my GPX 250 off them.

Haven't seen either party on KB or on a ride for a long time.

So I keep thinking about the LOR, and it's got me wondering:

    • Where do you go?
    • How long does the ride usually last for?
    • What sorta distance is the ride generally?
    • What pace does the group usually go at?

All in all, I'm keen to join in.

This is the reason i started going for closed rides

I am pretty sure she didn't clip the truck but she got rather close, nice girl, her partner was suitably pissed off but seemed like a good guy. I wore most of the shit for that.

Anyways, its a tricky game organising rides, people should be responsible for themselves and everybody should be having fun, most of all the people that go to the effort of organising a ride and looking after noobs - its a pretty awesome gesture really

The dude on the 600 got his bike repaired in under a week wasn't it? Bloody impressive and I don't think it cost him that much. Done all himself of course.

The chicks partner did a little rant on here for a while then dropped off. Blaming Koz for letting her ride or something? He seemed to cool down after a few days.

They're generally about half a days riding but that's with fluffing around and stops. Maybe a couple of hundy k's. The group goes sub-sonic speeds, Murray is the fastest. He usually goes so fast he rides the whole trip and ends up behind everyone again so no one gets lost

It really is your own pace. And if you seem to be going beyond your own pace.... There's so many varied speeds going on that you can always find someone to ride with at a speed you're comfortable with. Bloody good way to meet people.

I haven't been on a ride for AGES, but I think the super fast riders do their own thing now.

I heard she was a nice girl Dunno about the partner being "suitably" pissed. Pissed yes, but it was grossly misdirected. No way should you or LOR have been bitched at.

But that's not the point, you bored or something Koz? hahaha. Popping up here after, what, a year? Funny really, happened to land on the first page of this a few weeks back, with your post all those years ago thinking how you started up the rides and haven't been on for ages.

How's the riding country over there?

    • How long does the ride usually last for? Depends on stops for lunch etc. Try to leave by 10.30 latest and back 2-3 pm
    • What sorta distance is the ride generally? anywahere from 150-250 kms try to keep it at a tank of gas
    • What pace does the group usually go at? some faster riders some slower the pace of the group is dictated by tail end charlie who goes to the pace people are comfortable at - it is not a race and suitable for all levels of riders

No offficial group - but a number of us do meet at te rapa tavern wednesday nights about 5.30ish. sometimes rides planned then and generally if one is it goes in the calendar. Anyone welcome to suggest rides and rides leave from Kingsgate Hotel carpark

I haven't had a bike in about a year! Now i got my z1000 which lifts the front wheel a whole shitload easier than the ol zx10r++ hehe.

I am back on here out of curiosity mainly and to stir a bit haha, signed in to ask if there was a KB for victoria - turns out there are 4 similar sites and all of them are like google plus - empty and rarely used :/

Anyways. People gotta get riding i just had a 45min city ride on the 1000 - it was awesome!

And saying its a testosterone decision as all u fellas have 600cc+ bikes. Well I have a 250 hyosung which is just maybe a step up from the gn250, very much still a learner and one hell of an ugly middle aged male. So unless Murray likes the hyo or me (or both) then maybe the guys warped, emotionally charged post is correct.

Also, there is no point in trying to catch up to the lead pack as there is a TEC that will make sure 1. you dont get lost, 2. can give u feedback if u ride like crap, 3. saves money on tickets
