Let me think who rides cruisers in our group - Glenn does and comes on occasional rides, Don does and comes on occasional rides, Wharekura Dave does and comes on occasional rides - Im always a cruiser but thats me and not my bike, Trina's generally a cruiser as well - Its about the ride for us.

new page - so repeat - looking at heading to dragstrip as shown on previous pages leaving 10.30 sunday from Kingsgate Hotel carpark. (bike dependant) weather looks mint

Looks like a good day to pop up and watch some of the fun at the drags. me and Trina leaving from the Kingsgate by bike (as long as my fork seals not pissing itself - will check out tomorrow) at 10.30ish if anyone else interested in popping up for a look
We should be 3 or 4 bikes from Auckland who ride together. One or two of us may even do a run down the strip.

Its about the ride for me too and like to go slow as 1. bike is slow, 2. i am slow, 3. only been riding a year, 4. dont want to get lost so stay close to murray. The best scenic ride for me was to kaiaua - referred to as "bonding with mark time".

For those that don't remember or didn't hear, that's when Murray and Glenn went above and beyond in getting me home, after which Tony and Dave did the same with my old bike after it suddenly decided to convert itself into a cruiser. LOR at it's finest, gentlemen.

Route has been set, accommodation planned & tentatively booked , good weather on the way , after all it will be summer, so here are the details you all need for the moment :

    Anniversary weekend - January 26th - 28th 2013

    Route :

Day 1 - Hamilton - Whakamaru - Turangi - Taihape - Napier via the recently sealed Gentle Annie - 455 Kms

Day 2 - Napier - Wairoa - Gisborne - East cape as far as Waihau bay - 450 Kms

    Day 3 - Waihau Bay - Opotiki - Rotorua = Hamilton - 340 Kms

DEPARTURE - Kingsgate Hotel - 9.00 AM Sharp

    Accommodation :

Saturday 26th - Art Deco Masonic Hotel - Napier

    $105 double/twin share
    $95 single

You need to book ASAP as it is a long weekend. Doubles and twin shares can be finalised when exact numbers & who is coming is known. When you book by Ph or e-mail, mention LOR to get the discount negotiated. $10 per bike for secure under cover parking also available. Also of note is that they have a free cancellation policy. Hotel is on Marine Parade & very close to all amenities

Link to Hotel for booking - masonic.co.nz

Sunday 27th - Waihau Bay Lodge

Cabins only - 4 booked that have a double & 2 singles each = 16 beds. 1 more cabin can be booked if required, but we'll need to be quick. Again, configuration details can be finalised when numbers & riders known ( Its only 1 night folks )

$30 per cabin - bedding & towels provided.

Very nice pub only a step or two away , Fish n chips if you want, and more importantly - GAS !! - which we will all need.

No website, but if you google map - Waihau Bay lodge, & street view it, you will get the idea.

This will be a ride your own ride with maps supplied & a main re-group at lunchtime OR venue/location, to be advised. There will not be a TEC nor a rider waiting at intersections, Day 1 & Day 2 will both be a full days ride, but very do-able for all that have ridden with us.

Ride will be posted in the Calender shortly - Please Register ASAP & don't forget to book in at the Masonic.
Ride is filling up nicely - so far 12 bikes confirmed. There is still a few places left @ Waihou Bay, so if you are thinking of coming along, you'd better get in sooner rather than later. Looking like an epic trip is on the cards
If you don't know where you are going , any road will get you there ............
