The point is moot to me anyway, since I wouldn't fuck telecon if they were the last goat on the planet.

Ok, what I mean to say, is the mobile internet product offered over the CDMA network was always going to faster and technically superiour to the internet product offered over the GSM network. But we shall see.

But this XT thing its on sim(or equivilent) cards right?

I'm saving $30-40 a month being with Telecom, and my phone is better than what I had on Vodafone.

I'm supposed to be getting a $300 credit to be used towards a new phone for the XT network so I'm looking forward to that

    Rubbish. No they're not.

Their new network is the same technology as Vodafone's network has been for several years now. It's not GSM. They were going to roll out a GSM network and a real 3G one. They're not now.. they've paid their contractors to remove the GSM/2G sites that they'd already paid them to install.

The new network is on 850Mhz and 2100Mhz (in the city, for obvious reasons), using Alcatel kit. Other operators in the world have ripped their Alcatel kit out and replaced it with Nokia..

Vodafone's is 900 and 2100, like most people networks in the world. It doesn't take a genius to work out which frequencies will have the best handset availability.

It'll be years before TNZ have improved their infrastructure enough to support the download speeds they're promising. I've seen nothing about HSUPA speeds.. speeds that are already available on Vodafone, on devices available now.

My phone (vodafone) is displaying "Insert SIM". Does it got to do with the XT network or is my phone just fucked?

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.
