Well they have "chop chop square" up here. If you do drugs and murder, then its a public removal of your head and theft will get yer hand cut off. Not a pretty sight at all and a loud and clear message that people do take notice of. You don't see a lot of one handed people around here!
As a citizen of NZ and a resident of Saudi Arabia, I reckon I'm party to two extremes in justice. Somewhere in the middle would do me.
If you love it, let it go. If it comes back to you, you've just high-sided!

Achievement is not always success while reputed failure often is. It is honest endeavor, persistent effort to do the best possible under any and all circumstances.

Then there are those that have been convicted of a serious crime, for example, Arthur Allen Thomas, who ten years later was released and his conviction quashed. In that senario (had capital punishment still been in service) he probably would have hanged for the double murder of which he was innocent of.
Thats the point..."no place in society"...not "hanging"...the issue is the judicial system.

No place in society, who decides that and how?

In an incomplete case, a jury has been witheld from prior violent history as part of their decision making process in sentencing, or current "on remand" violent information.

In that particular instance a jury would be unable to know if the offender is a good bugger gone wrong, or bad to the bone, therefore a danger to society.

So, my point is how could a jury without a doubt decide there is no place in society, in a hypothetical capital punishment sentence, being that in some instances, prior history appears to be released usually via media, after conviction?
