Revit MOTO is a good standard looking leather jacket that looks like you could easierly wear around and not look like a guy walking around in a motobike jacket... Downside is that its $500-600

How 'budget' is 'budget'?
And what sorta riding are you doing with your GSXR (or you leather jacket...)?
Whatever you get in the end shoudl depend on your riding...kinda. If youre commuting you can go with a hybrid-type (leather+cordura) as previously suggested and it will be lighter, and hopefully have the leather on impact/abrasion areas.
From what ive seen in my search, the 1.4mm Winston recommends is likely to result in shelling out higher $$$, heaps of leather jackets are around 1.1 to 1.3mm. If youre less likely to be kissing tarmac at high speeds, I guess the abrasion resistance of the 1.4mm will be a luxury? (the "kissing tarmac" is likely to happen anywhere and is kinda unforseeable yar, but the "high speeds" is completely up to ones wrist...)
Armour? Either go with a bike jacket with armour in the pockets, or theres the option of an Armoured Jersey (think EVS Ballistic... Shift SomethingOrOther...) under a leather jacket. With this, you can also wear the Armoured Jersey under anything - hoodie, dress jacket... or trench coat for thelook...
Got my Shift one from MotoMail Outlet in Auckland for around $70 or something from (bad) memory.
Add a jacket of your choice, and you could be sorted...
Do you smell that? Two Stroke, son.Nothing else in the world smells like that.I love the smell of Two Stroke in the morning.

Yeah I am definately a commuter. Use my bike mainly for getting to work and town etc the motorway here is about 2km long at 80km/h after that it's all 50 zones so I want something that will help in a crash but won't look out of place walking round town in
As far as budget is 3 to 4 hundred too little to pay for something like this
How About this ?

Dont have a large number of sizes left but what we have might be right.
Ive run out of fucks to give
Trademe and the Cash Converter type shops would be a pretty reasonable source of possibles for you if you are prepared to wait. I bought some Quasi pants and jacket last year and found Brett and Paula great people to deal with.
They gave me some good advice, the gear broke in quickly(left bruises on my arms the first few times but moulded to me quickly) and is comfortable. The arm vents work really well in the heat and the armour is comfortable and gives me a feeling of safety. I do wear my own back protector under the jacket.
Cheers Quasi
