Yeah guess they have considered it with the classic being so popular now, but like for example PS mag are recomissioning Tony Rutters 750 F1 for Michael to do a parade lap at the TT. Youd want to send those wheels in for xray. Youd have to find a place to do it.
Short of wandering into A&E and asking if they have some downtime in the xray room. . .
Don't you look at my accountant.

Dye penetrant is accurate enough on castings. But they have to be dead clean to do it - which usually means media blasting first.

They can be done in my home town, any firm that makes boilers and pressure vessels has an xray machine to cert the welds.
But the Dye penertrant Grumph mentioned is a DIY able one they used to use on Mag cases etc.

Air NZ out at the airport in Christchurch used to do X-rays years back on your parts. Aeronautical engineers etc will know where you can get large parts X-rayed.

Aviation Support Services do crack testing and shot peening. I still use them for shot peening - AFAIK they're the only ones in the SI doing it - but have found cheaper Zyglo and dye penetrant crack testing elsewhere.

Cliff Bond do that and also the Automotive machinist in Hills road, I'd expect most places like that would

A lot can do some sort of crack testing. Dye penetrant mainly. Zyglo is still rare. The bike scene doesn't call for certification like the aviation authorities - and some car classes - do. So going to someone who won't issue a certificate isn't a problem for us. So cheaper.
But if you're running a Formula 5000, you go to Aviation Support Services - and get the paperwork, and the bill....Suspension, uprights, steering links, halfshafts etc,etc..

$100k NZ$ and it has not hit reserve yet!

I did not know they existed. Interesting ride for sure, massive money.

I wonder what the guy who 'discovered' it paid the original owner .... bet the prick ripped him off and struggled to hide his boner as he rolled it out of storage.

A friend of mine had one of the ELR in the 80's, new. Great bike. Should have kept it ..... retrospect is great.
