Starter bushes may be dodgy, gentle tap with hammer might vibrate it to different spot, try that.
Definitely try the crash start in second gear.

Waste of time, he's probably still quite hysterical and non-communicative.

Jumper cables wouldn't work, doesn't even make a ticking noise when I press the starter now.

Been trying to contact the seller but he did tell me a while ago that he would be on holiday.

Made a clicking noise before, eh?

Definately sounds like battery (or maybe starter relay) to me

Stick it on a charger and walk away for 48 hours...

at best, you end up bum raped with a now stolen bike to claim insurance on.
at worst, they'll actually fix it.

Try to bump starting it like some folks have said. Depending on how low tech the bike is a flat-ish battery may or may not matter.

To bump start it, make sure everything is "on" as it would be when you are riding the bike. Get someone to push you or find a small hill.... get moving and let go of the clutch quickly.... be prepared to give it a little gas if it fires up. FYI - I'd try bump starting it in 3rd not 2nd.

Guess im going to have to wait until after the holidays give the seller a call and if he fogs me off, hit up a few garages.

Neutral light also goes a bit dim when pressing the starter

Its done stuff all kms so shouldnt be a major. My wifes one ran trouble free (apart from snapped clutch cable) for 13K kms and then sold it to the next owner who had it 3 years +
