Manopausal.
Nano-sized particles stay in suspension ( & yep - they work in forks too, reducing 'stiction', & seal wear)..
Bit of a catch up for anyone interested, the 85 RZ has now clocked up a few k's, awesome being back on one after to many years. She seems fine had a couple minor bugs to sort just need to nail down the litte stutter at 5k rpm at part throttle.
The 84 import is pretty much ready for paint, been out on it a few times and again just some minor things to sort.
Ok and the big news, after months and months of searching I now have a 81 RD250LC.
Not pretty in fact it came home in boxes pretty much totally stripped but mostly all there.
Have started a quick loose assembly to get an idea on what I'm dealing with.
Motor looks not to bad so new pistons, crank, bearings, seals etc should see that right.

Aweseome. Had a 87 1KT TZR250 brand new. At the time, what a missile or a 250 proddie race bike.
Yep every so often I just stop and stare at them in one of those "Fuck Yeah" moments.
The 1KT is a weapon all right, riding the RZ then jumping on the TZR is like chalk and cheese so much more nimble and a lot quicker almost makes the RZ feel like a touring bike.

Also while I'm here who's the crank rebuilding guru here in NZ I can talk to? The RZ etc was easy Just a case of buying complete crank but Motozone etc only have parts.

Call Pete Sales Total mc in palmy and courier it. Don't be expecting a cool website. But no question he can do Yamaha twins.

Ok talked to Pete and he has stripped the crank, not so good news is the only bits still serviceable are the outer webs every thing else is toast.
After talking to Pete again we've decided the best option is to order complete assembled center section, Rod kits and outer bearings so he can reassemble.
I have ordered the parts from PJME UK, good quality to all Japanese bearings etc and Long Co rods.
so in the mean time while waiting for engine parts have sand blasted and painted the frame etc and started slowly restoring and assembling. In stead of buying pattern parts I've decided to refurbish original parts as much as possible, I did the same with the RZ's and TZR and get a lot of satisfaction knowing original 30+ year old parts were used to bring the bike back to life.

Parts from UK Arrived in 6 days from order so that was cool and then sent them off to Pete, while waiting for crank parts etc I sorted the top end, gearbox and seal, and preped the cases for assembly.
Crank arrived Wednesday and looked oh so good so assembled bottom end that night and top end Thursday night then set about sorting carbs etc. Discovered sprocket spacer was a RZ one so dropped to a machine shop to shorten to 14mm the LC uses inner and outer OD was spot on.
Fitted the engine into frame Friday night and found a little time amongst family duties Saturday to fit chambers, stator etc. Kicked over and have nice big spark so have compresson and spark just need fuel
Today fitted and balanced the carbs adjusted and bleed oil pump, added gearbox oil and fuel tank.
Ok time to see if she lives and on the 4th kick fired into life and sat there idling away while I stood there with a stupid satisfied grin.
Need to sort a chain before I can road test the will be time to do the cosmetics.
Pretty happy as it was sitting in boxes only about 6 weeks ago so may be on the road this summer yet, the aim was next summer.
