Gutted I never made it, biffed it down the track on Friday on a spot of oil in my last session and couldn't get the rear brake fixed in time. Rearing for Feb 28th now, gotta make my race debut at some stage!

It was incredible the amount of oil and debris that we had to clean off the track from the Friday testing day. Had to put concrete dust down on almost every corner, apparently you weren't the only one on the Friday to crash from oil on the track.

Yeah a fair few did in the same session as me apparently. I heard you had to spend a bit of time cleaning up the track; Canterbury car club really should be keeping an eye on the cars on track I think, as when I was stuck out on track while the cars where going round I watched about 3 of em cruising around pissing out blue smoke!

Its a lesson learned for me though and I take my lessons where I can, "Be very careful on car/bike test days as cars drop oil!"

That's exactly why a lot of us old hands won't do combined race days..

In fairness, a lot of what was there probably was left fron the big car meeting the previous weekend. No rain didn't help either. Nothing like a couple of days of rain to clean a track...

May I borrow your old head for these young shoulders? Might cost me less in repair bills!

way back when (cue violin music...) the only motorcycle roadracing in the SI was as the reluctantly allowed support to car meetings...

Then a couple of clubs managed to get their act together to stage bike only meetings....and we all rejoiced.

Occasionally some bastard ignorant of history thinks combined meetings are a good idea - usually in an attempt to piggyback on the TV coverage.
Once those combined meetings are held, history usually repeats....Modern wide tyres really don't like oil...the old narrow, hard rubber wasn't actually too bad as grip levels were low anyway.

Fantastic day yesterday, finally popped that racing cherry, was not as I imagined it to be... It was better!

Big thanks to all involved for organising such an event, great times.

That B track is awesome, really enjoyed going over the rise and keeping her leaned over all the way up to the final corner. Nice layout for a wee 400.
