I'm all for a tall top gear or over-drive.
I just don't think they need 5 cogs to get there.

Dunno about a Baker. That's big money. Easier to drop to a smaller front pulley and / or larger rear.

I don't like to cruise any higher than 110kph (both my last tickets were 115 and 117) and am concerned about lugging the motor.

I was forever looking for 6th on the Triumph Speedmaster. Changed to a 19t front and it all but cured the 'problem'. Does your bike give you that option (not a shaftie for example?)?

It will do, as all SV's are Chain driven.
Trouble is it will be useless above 3rd gear in town if you gear it up.... Of course there is no rule that says you have to cruse town in 6th.... but I do, because I can (Not an SV owner mind).

To tall for NZ conditions unless you are cruising at 80mph.

I'm with Dave - less gears would be better! I've seen riders redline in 1st, then click, click, click all the way up ie treat them like a 2 speed.
    doen't everyone cruise at 80mph?

Agreed. Maybe it's something to do with EPA noise measurements taken in certain gears and not others (explains the different cuts I believe too - helical (sp?) and straight cut). Shit when politics dictates design.
