Honda Hornet CB900
Purchased new in August 2007, this bike as at May 2009 has 36,648km on the clock (in 21mths). As they say this bike is a 'keeper' and the inline 919cc engine is very smooth. The riding style is comfortable and the accessories I added include the Givi Screen, Oggy Knobs, Grab Rail Caps, Rizoma Mirrors, and CycleWorks Mufflers. In exactly 3 years, this month, I have ridden a total 61,000km on the four bikes, and have not been any further north on SH1 than Hunterville, nor any further south than Island Bay - Wellington.
Come 20th November 2009, the Hornet reached 45,000km. I got to the stage where I was running it to my own edge/envelope, and decided, given the due maintenance costs then it was a case of keep or trade. At 45,000km the bike was coming up in the next 3,000km: front and rear brake pads, front and rear sprockets, front and rear tyres, and a major valve clearance service. Well I chose to let this wonderful bike go, and now having had the wee 250R Kawasaki Ninja for eight weeks and 3000km, I am happy with my decision, very happy.
