Sometimes when heading for the Rimutaka Hill on SH2 a good alternate route can be had - turn right at Silverstream across the river up Fergusson Drive and when you see the sign to Trentham Racecourse turn right off Ferguson Drive and follow the road behind the Trentham Army Camp and then right again up over the Wallaceville Hill
