My Dad on his Mach 111 at Ruapuna 1970-71
that's mint
this is epic! also, no evidence of how "evil" and "terrible handling" they were supposed to be.
My old man certainly knew how to ride them. He did comment on how much they were a handful but not a lot worse to most late 60's - early 70's bikes were. He won a lot of races of this "beast" so can't have been too bad....
Excellent, I like his riding style. but bugger the open face helmet though :0)
All it's missing is a ciggy hanging out from his lip and we have beginnings of Barry Sheene
Funny you should say that,..he used to smoke a pipe back then (20 years old !! lol)
Awesome pic, Awesome bike. Love the Helmet !!!
They were a beast!! This one looks like a 1969 or 1970 model, not sure which, but the Mach III 500 badges on the side covers disapeared on the 1971 models and got replaced with stickers. I owned a black 1968/69 model (depending on what you read at the time) with silver black racing stripes and rode almost every Mach III around (plenty of my friends owned them) until the 1975 model.
